And I'm talking physical violence here - supposing you're on a night out and come across such a conflict unfolding, are both equally frightening to be around, or is one more unpleasant than the other?

Equally unpleasant but for me, in different ways.

Possibly because I'm a woman I find male aggression more frightening than female aggression.

I believe men to be worse as in general they throw stronger punches and some guys have that 'lad' attitude where they feel they have to prove themselves. However I have also seen women use bottles and high heels whilst scrapping so that's just as bad

I don't find either frightening. I just find it incredibly immature and rather pathetic.

I find people fighting regardless of sex frightening & extremely unpleasant to witness, more so if it's alcohol induced.

As a woman, men scare me more usually due to their strength, size & unpredictability.

I've only seen a few females fight & in both instances they descended into hair pulling, slap fest heap on the floor!

I find the sight and sound of street brawling absolutely sickening....

Tragedy is not a noble outcome ...

I don't find either frightening, stupid yes frightening no, I will not stand and watch 1 person get beat up though, if I see a fight and 1 guy is clearly winning I will step in and break it up,

Both scenarios are abhorrent. I think doubly degrading for women though.

I'll fight tooth and nail if need be, to protect my family/myself, but an alcohol fuelled street brawl?

Urrgh, so unbecoming

Working in pubs and running a pub there's been times I've had to step into a fight. Believe me, it's the women's fights I've come out of worse. Most the blokes stop throwing punches when there's a woman stood between them

Women are a pain in the ass to separate... Once they grab a handful of hair they're never letting go!

Specially bad when you're the one who gets hurt and has nothing to do with the fight... Just happened to be in the way

I was wondering that!

I've only ever seen one proper fight (which was grim) other than that it's just scuffles which are pretty pathetic and not overly intimidating

True...many folk love to co vet an image of their tough neighbourhood as some claim to fame, and the fact remains that you're relatively unlikely to be attacked without provocation.

However, serious assaults do happen, and people forget how easy it is to seriously injure or even kill with a single punch....the next day they want to play all I innocent and not take responsibility for their actions.

Men fight for ego. Women fight for real.
