Time is nearly here for making resolutions so who here has managed to kick the filthy habit and how did you do it? I said a few years back when 20 fags cost a fiver I would give up but couldn't. I've tried the vaper cigarettes but I don't get the same satisfaction from it.

Gave up Sept 2013 after smoking 20 a day for 30 years!!!!

I used Champix with a weekly check in.

Was really easy. Tough part has been the almost daily battle to keep off them. So far so good. Considering my will power is zero, I am pretty chuffed at myself

You HAVE to be ready otherwise you are wasting your time

Good luck

Been off for four years, apart from the odd rollup. Try a better vaper, the first one I tried was rubbish, but good enough to lead me to do some research and find better ones which give more vapour and throat hit, so it's a near smoking experience.

Still using the vaper, but reducing the nicotine strength, started at 36mg and now down to 18mg

I gave up on January 15th 9 years ago. I had previously quit in my three pregnancies, only to start again when I miscarried. For me, the desire to do everything within my power to try to have a healthy pregnancy was all the motivation I needed to quit.

I haven't smoked since I became pregnant in 2006. I was never a massive smoker so just made sense once stopped not to go back to it.

I still occasionally miss that after dinner cigarette with a glass of wine.

I was smoking 3 packets of bacca a week. So I bought myself a Ecig cause I was coming to Wales for Xmas so needed one for the train on the way here. But since been here I have stayed on the Ecig and feeling very proud of myself

I gave up in May 2010 after smoking since the age of fifteen. I'd tried many times before to stop without success. Have tried NRT and Champex without success always ended up going back after two or three weeks. Back in 2010 just stopped and haven't had for wanted a cigarette since. It might of had something it do with coughing blood in the mornings that spurred me on. After three weeks off the coughing stopped. I'll never smoke again.

10 months for me now after 33 yrs. I went down the vaping rd too and still am. I did get down to zero nicotine but pilled on 3 stone so went back on nicotine but mixing my own liquid so I can control it. Im on about 3mg and lost the wight again. If im honest I like the vaping more than I did cigs can't see me ever going back now the smell alone is bloody horrible. Best of luck

I tried an e-cig but it didnt work. Then i called into my local vaper shop, they went through the options and i ended up with one that has variable voltage and wattage. Did cost £40.00 for the set but ive never looked back. It gives me the ciggie hit that i just didn't get with the e-cig.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I love my e-cig. Smells and tastes better and has saved me a fortune.

The secret is to be what you want to be and not regret it. Don't concern yourself in what society thinks but weigh up the facts and decide for yourself.

Me I'll die a cigar smoker... Whether from old age or lung cancer!.

I gave up in 2012, not because I cared about my body or some other healthy reason. I just can't afford. I love smoking, I loved the social side of it.

I'm just one of those annoying social smokers now

I know it shortens your life, but after seeing everything that my gran has wrong with her, I'm not sure that's a bad thing.

Going to invest in a better vaper then, the one I had was cheapy. I love having a fag though, even now it's freezing outside I'll still sit on my doorstep and have one! After meals, boredom and the biggest factor is when things stress me out! Gonna try, 8 quid every other day is too much money to piss away.

Hypnotist!! Stop instantly and don't want one.

Smoked for 10 yrs from age 11. Stopped for 20yrs then started again. Tried everything to stop, including champix but nothing worked. A friend had used a hypnotist so I thought I would try it. Stood outside and smoked my last 3 fags lol. Went in, came out an hr later and have never smoked since

I would seriously try a better vaper. 4 yrs ago when I switched, I watched the videos on the totally wicked uk site and thought " I need one of those". The tech has moved on a lot. These days you can get a very good kit for £30-40. Loads of options, and now high street shops to try before buy.

Bear in mind that the two main consumables are the heating coils and the liquid. I now use a vivi nova, as I can get the wicks/coils for £1 a time. They can be cleaned, dry burned and re-used several times. Liquids are now appearing in £1 shops and there's a uk manufacturer/supplier called onepound liquids (or something), that I'm going to try next. All up, I get through less than £10 a month on consumables, and I vape heavily.

Stopped 4.5 years ago when I found out I was preggers. Didn't wanna be breathing it over my boy so never started again. One night when he was 1 I was out and had a few beers and had a few puffs of one. Was totally gross. Put me off for life.
