What's people's views on using a Swimming Baths for a first meet instead of a pub on a case where it's social first . I would like to try this I think it's safe but also a bit different

I wouldn't. I hate the smell, the noise and what it does to my hair I'm a rubbish swimmer and also wouldn't feel comfortable meeting socially in my swimming togs......apart from that whats not to like

We have 'met' people in the swimming pool at The Greenhouse, Darlaston

Its certainly different ill give you that, it wouldnt work for us to be fair as I we would feel more relaxed to chat in a pub rather than a local swimming pool where kids are screaming

I struggle as it is

Turning up in budgie smugglers, swimming cap and arm bands is hardly likely to improve my chances

I don't see the problem of kids being around, have had plenty of first social meets in coffee shops, cafes, park and other public places where sometimes there can be children about.

Still wouldn't want to, but kids wouldn't be the issue!

Are there not pools that cater for that kind of meet...

I did genuinely mean as an alternative safe first social meet not to have sex with kids about

I think that it's a good idea...but then I love a swim...and getting wet holds no fear for me...

Fair enough. But I think being semi naked in a pool is very different to chatting in a pub/ cafe etc fully clothed.

Even without the goggles and snorkel I'd probably ruin my chances by arriving poolside wearing my pink flippers and a frilly one piece swim costume with matching cap and a pair of Disney themed armbands .....

Much better off wearing that in a pub.

Not for me. If you've found out they like/love swimming though then it's maybe better, or at least different, than a chain house coffee shop.

It's why I never take my big Alsatian to the baths.

The Pool at Abfabs is a great place to meet and socialise but a Public Swimming pool no chance.

More chance of a breast stroke but a pub is likely better.

Still difficult to talk about anything intimate with little darlings splashing about within earshot

That would explain all the strange men who hover at the end of my lane each time I go swimming.

Meeting someone of the opposite sex at a swimming pool has it's time and place, like my teenage years in 1987 when the hight if sophistication was buying her some chips on the way home and promising not to try and finger her on the way lol
