For some it works but can be as much of a lucky dip as meeting in a bar.

Don't see anything wrong with it, a lot of the asian community do it all the time with arranged marriages and the majority of them last 40 years or more.

There is a benefit for both parties if both parties are willing to give and take,

When they get that old and worn that you need spares it's time to bin them and get a newer model.
