supermarket madness

a straightjacket

Just got back from Tesco, why is it every year people go crazy and empty the shelves of food and stuff. They had no semi skimmed milk left and the bread was nearly all gone, do shoppers think that the supermarkets wont be open again for another week......... Just baffles me

What baffles me more is the people who suddenly need 2 trollies stacked with very conceivable foodstuff. The majority of which will end up in the bin no doubt.

agreed. I need to do a normal weekly shop and I'm dreading it. I leave it till last minute as I'm out for lunch Christmas and Boxing day and don't want things that'll be past their sell by date.

A friend of ours complained yesterday that her shopping bill came to nearly £300

When I asked why she'd bought so much, her answer...........'I don't know, it's Christmas......'

I'm off to purchase teacakes, macaroni cheese and milk for my very elderly neighbour.

She's, otherwise, sorted for Christmas as she's going out for Christmas lunch.

I've booked myself into a hotel, and will have dinner with family.

My work takes me to the high street and retail parks and to people watch while I'm at work has been so entertaining.

I've never seen so much stress, anxiety and ridiculous behaviour in all my years of doing what I do.

It's better than the worst car crash television shows imaginable.

We went to Tesco at six this morning to avoid the stampede. We spend 50 quid on a weeks shopping. Same as we did last week and every other week. Just no point in the madness that breaks out every year. Last year we witnessed to old men fighting over a parking space in Asda. What a start to their festivities. I think older people are worse this time of year!

Did my normal shopping before 5 it was lovely and empty but there was someone with 2 trolleys full I thought most of theirs will be wasted

It is one day not the end of the world now the sales that is a whole other ballgame lol

I can live in hope. Went at 3 christmas eve once and it was empty. I was shocked. Going early so might beat the rush

Glad it isn't just me who thinks it's complete mayhem, haha, glad I only needed a few things so was ok to use the '10 items and under' tills, otherwise I'd be stuck behind the people with 2 trollies stacked high with everything, including the cuddly toy!

People entertain over Christmas, they often have guests for several days so they need a lot of food. Lots of people won't have been paid until this weekend or won't have had time off to do their shopping so they need to buy lots and do it later or last minute. We're lucky we are in a position to buy things weekly and store them and get fresh items later on the evening when no ones about.

However I have promised to take my mum to pick her order up tomorrow morning at 9 am hope we don't get a load of people tutting at us for having the temerity to be out buying a lot of shopping at Christmas.

Depends where you live I spose, some people live out in the sticks where nowt is open.

Ours is too fir a few hours in the morning. Not that I go but I drive past on my way to lunch.

there's a garage we can drive to which is open on Christmas day and some shops open on Boxing day. I think its a shame for the people who work in retail that they get one day off before the mad rush for the sales starts.
