Lenovo ( previoulsy IBM ) and toshiba as they use quality internal parts.

HP and Packard bell are reknowned for over heating and being loaded with bloatware.

Sony are also another good make with quality parts

I've no experience of Packard Bell, but professionally I've dealt with the rest.

HP and Compaq are the same company and are perfectly good. Lenovo are what used to be IBM's home computing brand which were sold to the Chinese, also still very good. Finally, Toshiba are officially make the most reliable laptops.

So all are good. I would recommend that you buy the highest spec you can afford and personally think that Intel processors give more value for your money

I had a lot of trouble with my HP when I first got it. It's still not great. It's an AMD processor. I was told after to stay away from the HP/AMD/Windows 8 combination...

currently using a packard bell easynote - no overheating - had well over three years only repair has been to the hinge to the lid - after it had been dropped

I have always gone for brands who are big in the business world, i.e. they supply corporate customers on a large scale, because they usually have reliable parts in them and could be more robust - they will also do ones which aesthetically, look more like a home laptop instead of a work one.

asus is one of the best & bring new spec online very quick if your looking for a laptop/tablet look at the ASUS T100 very good also look at the rest of there range at ASUS UK if your getting one now you should ask when Microsoft new Windows is due out should be in the first quarter 2015 if so will you get a free upgrade which is worth having

They used to be...they've bowed out of the PC game now though. Guess the competition was just too strong. Shame cos they were great machines and I was going to get a new one to replace my 8 year old one

Anyway, we have Lenovos at work here and they're pretty good
