Idris Elba.

According to the t'internet, the Sony hack has revealed an email from Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman Amy Pascal simply stating:

"Idris should be the next bond"

I think he'd make a great Bond

i'm not a huge bond fan but I do like Idris lol

how does James Bond work, are we to believe that all the incarnations are the same person because if so how will it work or is everyone recruited to that position called James Bond? like a job title? or is it more along the lines of the Dr?

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Elba as Bond would be fantastic.

Evie! Bond is the same character, we just have to suspend belief for a bit. 007 could be anyone though as that's a designation.

There's only one real Bond - the woodenly suave Roger Moore

Titz Towers, North Notts

I think he has the presence and ability to do a wonderful job.

I don't think Elba could do it. He's said before in an interview that he wants to do it.

He's a good TV actor but I've seen some of his films and he's not so much of a good film actor.

In TV you get used to a character/actor or they've got time to 'grow' into the character.

In film there's only one chance, and if the actor is doing a bad job pretty much no one on set will say so (depending on the actor).

Just my opinions.

He should be in my toy cupboard.

I think it could work. He'd be a cracking Bond if he can pull off the ironic humour and the script writers get it right. I think Daniel Craig's Bond is the wrong type of character as he comes across as too angst ridden and earnest and the role has become almost humourless.

Would he get acting lessons first?

Looks good but has got the acting ability of a park bench.

I had a bizarre dream recently with Idris Elba, Jet Li and Art Malik...but I digress.

Nope: can't see it, a black Bond?!! Nah!

Would be the death of the series. Daniel Craig has at least one more movie contracted after spectre. Then they will start looking possibly.

Lucky its not down to some exec at Sony but with Barbra broccoli and her hubby. And party of the licence agreement with Fleming ( or his estate ) was a strict guide to the physical attributes of bond... One of the reasons you will never see Tom cruise as bond also.

I would like to see him act an iconic bad guy in bond just like the old skool bond movies but this time around he doesn't die but come back in a sequel.

Tom Cruise is American anyway. Is Bond not supposed to be British?

I, personally, don't like Daniel Craig as Bond

I agree. I've only seen him in Luther and the Mandela film but thought both performances were pretty dire.

No.

I love Idris Elba (ever since ultra violet) but Bond, No.

It would be like a black Hamlet.

Even in fiction, let's keep things 'real'.

If you haven't already seen it, you should watch Skyfall. It deviated from the formula and is actually one of my favourite Bond films.
