The "not me"

Here's a concept I started doing a few years ago.

We all have things that we don't do because it's just not us.

A movie genre we don't watch, a sport we won't try... Simply because we don't think it's something we would enjoy.

I call it a "not me"

Every now and then when I catch myself doing this I'll think "fuck it, I'll try it anyway."

I've found some great movies and had some great experiences as well as realised that somethings really aren't for me.

Is there anything that's "not you" that you would be willing toner?

I always said I would never watch "Geordie Shore" but it's now my guilty pleasure, I draw the line at "The Valleys" though.

Over recent years I have found myself into The X factor and Celebrity Jungle.

I never used to like Mustard, still don't but I imagine one day I will, that will be my 'yes me' moment.

I pretty much know what I am likely to enjoy and what I'm not but its good to go outside your comfort zone now and again. I can't think of anything off hand that is "not me" that I'd be willing to try though, maybe I'll make a small list and give some "not me" a go in 2015

A list is a good idea. I may draw one up for next year

Hurrying. I tried it for the first time recently, and it just got me somewhere I didn't want to be, sooner than I wanted to be there

Rare meat . I was used to eating meat that dropped off the bone, then I went to my sister's wedding in Italy twenty years ago and they served rare beef. I didn't want to show her up so tasted it...never looked back!
