Bloody lorries

Why do they try overtaking thn block both lanes ffs. it takes about two miles two of them at fifty and we have no choice but to sit there . Just stay in the slow lanes please. Thanks now you can return to your regularly scheduled programme.

I had a hire van through work for a month.....limited to 64mph ......I suggest you try one before having a go ...

think of it this way many a wagon driver will let you out compared to a car driver

instead of having a go please try driving one and doing there sort of hours just for your deliverys as most wagon drivers do more then 9 hrs and can reach 13hrs before they have to pull over for a night break

There is a slow lane ........... its the outside lane on a motorway.

As for trying a governed vehicle I have driven many and you know the limitations.

So a considerate driver would never overtake when they know they would be holding up faster drivers.

Also lorry drivers just think because they are big every one else should move out of the way, hence why the indicate and pull out.

No wonder the majority of serious RTA's involve a lorry.

Even worse now there are foreign drivers everywhere.

. Op need to remember how to indicate and turn his steering wheel to the right. So he can get past them.

So you get held up by a minute or two...............hardly anything to bust a blood vessel over is it? The anger shown on the nations roads over something so trivial as having to slow down to 56 from 70mph..............wow, it's like having to come to a standstill.

Chill out more when driving, one will find it a much more pleasant experience.

Some lorry drivers are great and true gents. Others are twats. Same for car drivers.

I know what the op means though. Slowing down to 56 for a couple of minutes is no big deal, but when it gets to 10 minutes and beyond it's a real pain. It does happen quite a lot in my experience. Two heavily loaded trucks, side by side, for several minutes, neither one backing down and neither on with any hope of going faster than the other as they're both restricted to 56.

I don't know what the figures are for serious RTC's - it depends what you mean by serious. But 40 odd tonnes of truck does a lot of damage whne it goes wrong. Think what it would be like to be simultaneously hit by 35 or so ford focus's (focusii?). More and more serious RTC's seem to involve foreign drivers too.

Driven various vehicles on the roads, yes it can be slightly frustrating to sat behind a lorry that is taking miles to overtake. So what if it takes you a few more minutes to get where you are going, better to arrive late than not at all.

Lorries are involved in a increasing percentage of fatal traffic accidents on Britain's roads. New analysis has shown that last year HGVs were implicated in more than half of fatal motorway accidents and one-in-five fatal accidents on A-roads, continuing negative trends over the last five years.

On motorways: More than half (52%) of fatal accidents on motorways involve HGVs, despite HGVs only making up 10% of the traffic on motorways

On A-roads: HGVs are involved in 1 in 5 fatal crashes on A roads, a ratio that has worsened over the last 5 years

On minor roads: An HGV is five times as likely to be involved in a fatal accident on a minor road than other traffic.

So the majority of serious RTA's as I quoted.

I also drive 30000 miles myself a year so I see a lot of idiots on the road, that includes farmers, bikers, car, PSV and HGV drivers. But I always recall when roads are closed it generally involves a HGV.

As said earlier, they are big heavy vehicles so therefore will cause more damage.

I as the OP was not saying we don't need HGV drivers, was just saying they should be a little more considerate on small overtaking opportunities.

But they are not as bad as middle lane hogger's or tractors.

Buy less stuff and there wouldn't be as many lorry a on the road simples . How many hgv accidents are caused by car drivers making dangerous man overs round lorrys !
