I see a lot of people asking for people to fab their pics or a friends. Am I missing something? I'm not sure what the point is. At first I thought it was just an ego boost for the person, which is fair enough, but how does it boost your ego if you have to ask? Maybe I'm missing the point, sorry if I'm being daft

Or its a popularity competition to some., or its just a bit of a giggle.. We cannot speculate as to why people ask or what they feel from it happenin, if we tried to guess we would be here a long time!

I will only Fab pics if I actually like them as no point otherwise in my humble opinion.

The ones that state we will only consider people who have fabbed our pics would not be the sort of people I would consider meeting.

we fab pics we like end of - it is flattering when people fab and comment but for us they are there more to give people an idea of what we look like - not after the world liking us

I think they are a way of paying someone a gentle compliment for their pics. People then have the option of responding or saying thanks....it is an icebreaker.

I know sometimes there are competitions or to try get people onto the most fabbed like PP with his poppy pic or Tosh's Christmas pic

I feel that way about the fabbing threads too - people go mad fabbing each others pics just for the sake of it, it kinda devalues it rather. I fab very few pics, only ones I really admire normally.

I quite like the 'fab a fave pic' type threads since everyone gets involved and it's interesting to see what type of pics people like as a result. As for fabbing when asked to, it entirely depends on the reason for asking. Shag Tonight's maid outfit fabathon being a case in point. That photo was so fun (as is Toshn's at the moment) that the Fab it received was a heartfelt one since it made me smile.

People fab pics for all sorts of reasons.

I suspect those doing so on the basis of artistic merit are in the minority.

The majority?

Possibly people fabbing as they're blocked from messaging/winking due to filters and are hoping for a reaction. And I suspect many aren't actually fabbing the pic - more the person regardless of the content of the image. A virtual kiss on the arse aiming to get noticed.

As for those requesting fabs? Does it work? Who knows! If a few numbers over an image gets them off - who cares. I suspect it's like any 'drug' though - the adrenaline rush will soon wear off and require an alternative fix.

I am flattered when I get the occasional fab, but I fab pictures i like.

I think some use it as a stealth wink to bypass filters, others as a way of showing interest. I have seen some shocking, poorly lit, out of focus pics get fabbed only because it was a female profile.

I think the now dissapeared "fab me" thread that turned really ugly is testament to the attention junkies that need the reassurance of "yes you are gorgeous hun", backed up by the white knights who feed that ego.

It isn't an attractive trait, I will more often than not move on to nicer people. After all, why would someone so gorgeous with 1000's of fabs want to play with someone like me with a handful.

Each to their own.

I must say, when joining fab 2 years ago my self esteem was zero.. I was very shy and quiet lady.

I met and a guy who helped me bring out the best in me - luckily he took photographs as a hobby and has helped me see that I am not only beautiful inside but pleasant to the eye on the outside... (best way I could put it, sorry)

He still takes my pictures now and again and I love getting them fabbed - To think someone finds me attractive enough to fab a picture is a hugs boost to my confidence.

I am still very shy on meeting, but i can say without his help and the fab's of my pictures i would probably not still be here.

But I bet you don't beg for them. That, to me, defeats the object. I too was flattered in the beginning then I realised some people would fab anything so don't bother with pics now xx
