yep, just in time for Christmas, i've cleared out a load of old & odd socks, to make way for the socks that i invariably get given on pressie day.

i sometimes also get knickers too, but they never match any of my bras

I've discovered that the men I buy for wear their socks till they're more hole than sock so the annual gift of socks is well received - one even gets all anticipatory! It's quite amusing when a bundle of socks is greeted with far more enthusiasm than bigger fancier pressies!
