Extreme punishments!

Read in the paper recently about an American man sentenced to life for drink driving.

This was his ninth offence and the courts have been leniant with him. It would only be a matter of time before he killed somebody and although he should be locked up as he's a danger, I think life for someone who hasn't harmed any one a tad harsh.

It did get me thinking however, if you had the power to carry out an extreme sentence what would yours be?

Mine? Cutting the fingers of the toe rags that burgled my house.

Very harsh but maybe he drove d*unk through a school area repeatedly? Maybe they should have put some device on his hand or some other way of stopping him driving as it will cost the state 1000's

He obviously didn't care, and as I said he was bound to kill someone. I have no sympathy for him it just seems a slippery slope locking someone up for life for what they might do.

little house on the praire

Definetly life for a drink driver. That definetly would be my extreme punishment. Definetly never be allowed behind the wheel of a car again

I agree with you,I can see that a preventative measure is needed but life for something thay hav'nt yet done is extreme

Can you imagine that sort of sentencing over here?
