The Hobbit - battle of 5 armies

Mild Spoilers Alert

Has anyone else been to see this? I went today and thought it overlong, overblown and frankly tedious. There must be 90 minutes of stunts/trick photography involving critters with sharp implements and other people performing gymnastic feats. Frankly, I found it rather wearying after a while.

Any other thoughts on this?

I've not seen the second one yet but my mum and dad went to see it at 6pm. The movie critic guy on the TV this morning said the last hour was one huge fight scene. I don't think I'll bother till I can watch it for free x

He's right it is just one huge fight scene and it just gets boring. One minute a dwarf is clouting someone, the next minute a human is ducking an Orcish blade and then an Elf is sticking a Orc. It is all so interchangeable.

The closest thing I can say I've seen to it, is the climatic scenes in the Transformers films, where you have an hour of CGI robots trashing the place. Spectacular for 2 minutes, then humdrum.

I decided not to watch the hobbit films when it was announced that there would be three of them .. I can understand making three lord of the rings films as there are three books . but the hobbit was only one book in the first place ..

I loved Lord of the Rings - books are still better than the films any day though.

I've read the Hobbit many times, I enjoyed the first film, but it didn't measure up to the book. I'll probably go to watch the new one out at the cinema, but sounds like I need to try The Screening Rooms so you have extra space plus can order food and drink to your seats. I'll never sit still for 3 hrs otherwise.

I saw it the other night, wasn't that impressed with it, didn't think the main dwarves had that much part in it, I'm a huge fan of all the films especially lotr, but this one was a let down for me, even at the end when legolas was told to find strider, he probably wasn't even born by then!

But when you think of it frodo probably wasn't even born, so maybe the same for strider maybe was just a kid at the time, can you imagine poor legolas searching all these years looking for him and Aragon is still a wee dweeb

The film was alright were it stayed to the book but all the filler theyve put in just doesnt work for a laugh look on youtube for honest trailers for tge second film sums up the triology perfectly

Too much happens in the book to do it all in one film but two films would have done. Lotr was excellent but something is missing in the Hobbit films. No charm in what should have been a children's film not just a CGI fest.

Too much damn filler. One small book stretched over 3 films was a bad idea. Radaghast is barely in the book, and Evangeline Lilley's character never existed at all!

Aragorn was born in 2931. The battle of the 5 Armies was 2941, so he was actually 10. He joins the search for Gollum in 3001.
