Just picked up a mobile phone to give to my niece for Xmas. Phone is 100% legit & came from the boyfriend of a friend of ours who we also know well.

He told me he would reset the phone back to factory settings, unfortunately he didn't. Now you've guessed it I've found things on there that concern me, now the easiest thing is to forget what I've seen & reset the phone but it' would niggle me.

Without going into too much detail our friend is playing away, problem is the website he's using is a scam & pretty sure he's being fleeced. Now I think as a friend I should warn him but my wife says it's not our business, in any case he doesn't know we know.

Don't get me wrong if I'd found any child pics or anything illegal I would have gone to the Police, but don't like knowing a friend is being conned.

Have no clue as to what I should do now, anybody care to help me. Before I'm screamed at the phone was switched on & took me straight to this dating website. If only he'd reset it I'd be none the wiser.

Obvious answer is to not give it to your niece and get rid of the phone

People are then none the wiser even tho you have it on your mind

Maybe just point out to him that he needs to be a bit more discreet and to next time make sure he does the factory reset himself.

My first response is just because he is on a dating site that doesn't mean he's playing away.

I'm sure there are lots of people on here who don't meet but use the site in a voyeuristic way.

But I don't know if I'd tell him, depends on how good a friend he was.

The phone's going to be wiped by me & going to my niece there will be no trace of a previous owner. As regards whether or not he's playing away that's his business & not my major concern. Being conned is!!

I don't have an issue giving you the website name & you can make your own minds up.

Ah ok, yeah I'd tell him.

It's his choice to be on the site to be fair but I wouldn't want a fraud to be committed against a friend.

That's assuming I wasn't friends with the wife too though.

Just reread your OP - he's the boyfriend of your friend.

Hard to justify warning him against a fraud when he's possibly being fraudulent with her.
