Knives pointing upwards on drip dry traps in sinks

I have a number of houses which I let out and it surprises me when people wash dishes but leave a sharp knife pointing. upwards in the drip fry tray. I always turn these knives to face downwards just in case someone falls forward on to them . Just looking at knives pointing upwards makes me feel unwell.

whilst I get the possible risk although minimal given the height they are at I find it a bit odd that you would be in 'their' place either alone or that you think you have the right to move their stuff..

do you tell them after..?

This.

Whilst I accept we don't have the full facts this is the way it sounds and I would have a serious mouthful for a landlord that touches my personal property... In fact it's happened once and never again.

I go mad if anyone puts crockery pointing upwards in the dishwasher! It should always be pointing down so you don't cut or stab yourself when you're getting it out. Do they listen?? Grrrrr

Also, I believe it's an offence for a landlord to enter a tenant's property without the tenant's permission unless in an emergency or to prevent criminal acts.

Legally must have your permission and give 24 hours notice and good reason.....sounds a bit creepy this?

. Yes I supply all cleaning materials and these are single room let's with access to shared communal areas . I am not letting out a complete house and tenants would know that I am in the house.

. I have clearly defined tenancy agreements which specify the access agreements in writing . I think you are confusing the letting of houses with that of single room let's in shared houses. .

Propper gets my goat when people wash colanders and then leave on draining board upside down. The top rim on the plastic seems to hold a bloody gallon of water. Leave it right way up water drains out. Simples

They can 'fall over' if the handle is put up in the drainer, that's why mine are pointy way up!

your OP says nothing about shared communal, you said 'houses I rent out' which paints a different picture..

. The kitchen is a shared communal area . No ones personal property is being touched.

A lot of commercial kitchens and catering premises leave knives, blade end upwards, to let them "air dry" to conform with EHO requirements.

There is a train of thought that if a knife is left in a rack, blade downwards there is a potential risk of cross contamination of any germs etc transferring from the base of the drainer rack, from the water residue below.

But, equally the knives should only be left pointing upwards for a short period. Too many places ignore that!

My brain cell reckons there was a story a few years back of a women being mortally injured, tripping/slipping and falling on an upward pointing knife in a dishwasher.

I always point mine downward.

Not dissimilar as to when you pass someone a knife or scissors etc ....

I think you can gave one of those 'ego stroke someone in this thread' thread or a 'fuck, marry, bury in concrete' thread stay mostly on topic because they are self promoting fluff nonsense. Everything else someone will take offense at or blast apart.

It's why I rarely post these days.
