I told my Mum

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

I told my Mum about my sexuality last night. I didn't go into details. I didn't tell her I dress either.

I told her I'm bisexual & my wife knows and is comfortable with it.

I had a cry and a she gave me a cuddle. I can't put into words the way it felt but, after 33 years it felt great, if awkward, to say out loud.

Just wanted to share after all the support I got from fabsters when I was doubting myself

Most mums would be the same and accept their child no matter what direction their life took and it was obviously the right thing to do for yourself.

Can I ask why you felt the need to tell her ?

I knew I liked both guys and gals when I was 12.

One cruel verbal exchange from my sister and growing up in, what I percieved to be, a homophobic environment, ensured I buried my feelings. Not even admitting them to myself.

Certain guys over the years would look into my eyes as we spoke and I'd have to look away to shake the effect I felt of their gaze.

A bisexual girl asked me if I'd ever consider sleeping with a guy as she watched when I was 42 and suddenly I couldn't hide any more. I wanted to know me.

I told my partner and my life totally transformed.

By 43 I started to dress to allow me to show my softer, submissive, bi side.

So many things have been affected by the hiding of my true self over the years

In answer to the question asked "why did I need to tell my Mum?" I can only say it was to explain to her why I've behaved the way I have all my life and because "coming out" to those who are close to you feels so damn good. If rather emotional!

People can't know you if they don't understand such a defining thing as your sexuality.

My exes brother is gay. Told his parents and older brother when he was 15, they all take the piss out of him all the time, make jokes about it and are downright nasty. He stays shut away in his room and they wonder why. It's awful!! Xx

I'm back on form again after having a chat with my Mistress. She has a softer side to her too, when needed. She's shared wise words. Combined with you lovely forumites that's another emotional ride ridden.

I appreciate that not everyone agrees or understands the need to come out to people close to you. I don't intend to be telling the world my business. This virtual one has its uses.

I also hope by sharing my thoughts on here that it may help someone else with their mental struggle too. Who knows, eh?

My mother likes to try to know everything. She asked straight off if I'd acted on my feelings and if my wife knew.

Believe me; there will be plenty of questions! I'm contemplating telling her I dress but not that I meet or that I have a Domme.

She'll want to try to understand the me I've admitted to. I know she's always known I've not been entirely honest with her. She's just never guessed what it was I was hiding

It takes so much strength to admit our true selves sometimes.you are very brave and you can now concentrate on not having a life half lived.such a burden to carry when such a big part of who you are is hidden. Then ones we love always have the power to hurt us most and so its always scary to let them see our true self, but sometimes even the people we think we know can surprise us. Am so glad she was positive but more importantly am glad you were able to do it for you.

Tig x
