May I ask. Had you had dental work in the few weeks before the pneumonia?

Purely out of one's geeky interest, but what is the correlation between dental work and pneumonia?? Feel free to pm the answer if you'd rather.

It's thought that changes in mouth bacteria preceed the development of pneumonia. That change might require dental treatment or be as a result of dental treatment.

It used to be the case that patients with a heart condition were prescribed antibiotics before dental extraction.

"funny you saying about teeth I had a back crown come off ages ago couldn't afford to go to dentist"

There isn't always a direct relationship. About 4 years ago, I had two teeth out. A fortnight or so later I had pneumonia and sepsis. A few weeks later they found I had endocarditis.

The consensus was that the dentistry was at the bottom of it all.
