Which are you a positive or a negative advice giver?

I don't mean on here only more in life in general do you go down the tough love stance do or are you a provider of sympathy and optimism? I am not saying either is good or bad just curious on what people think is most helpful in the short and long term.

I'm probably more along the lines of 'the tough love' type.

I get that it makes sense I would say I am more a 66/34 in favour of positive I was wondering which people thought was most effective.

A lot depends on how well I know someone with a stranger tough love just comes across as being a bit condescending or aggressive or that's how I see it so I will avoid or give some positivity or non at all.

"It entirely depends but advice us worthless if it isn't truthful."

Full agreement on that it has to be truthful but you can deliver the message in both ways usually.

Yes that's true.

I try to be positive in all areas of my life so I try to apply that to advice giving.

Both, when I am doing something I am confident then very positive.

Get me on an off day, negative.

I like to think positive. As you get older you realise that things can seem a lot better with a little time and a warm positive approach. I feel terribly cheesy saying it but all the best things in life are free, so grab them by the armful when things seem glum.

I will be honest and not let my personal feelings colour my advice

I'm supportive, but if someone says should I do x or y I step back.

Their choice.

The only people I don't step back for are my family and closest 2 friends.

I'm a realist.

I'm diplomatic. If someone asks my advice and I need to say something negative I try and do it in a nice way that's still honest.
