Somewhere on the M62 between 24 and 14

The knob on a toaster is for the amount of minutes the bread is toasted, not the heat setting.

You wont find that fact given out by Jonny Ball any time soon

Hail does not only occur in summer. It is less likely in colder months but by no means unknown. BBC News reported hail in January. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25873559

Sorry for being a know-it-all.

I don't know if that was hail or frozen rain, according to BBC the difference is that hail is built up in layers caused by up draughts of warm air (hence summer) until the hail is heavy enough to overcome the upward force, the only way to tell is to slice open the stone and look inside

It was useless but not a fact. Cold weather impedes hail formation. That is a fact. But it does not prevent it altogether. And I like useless facts.

My toaster is premature then! It is a time setting, though I wouldn't agree its minutes as some toasters go up very high in numbers!!

As we are talking weather related useless facts, did you know that a hurricane, cyclone and typhoon are all the same type of weather phenomonen differentiated only by where it occurs in the world. Why we can't just have one name for it is somewhat bizarre. Yours, Citygent, purveyor of useless shit!

Now that, at least, is a true (and very useless) fact.

"Rice paper is not made of rice it's made with potato starch."

Originaly it was made of starch derived from rice. We in the west don't grow rice, so we turned to another starch source.
