can guys get pregnant

I read a story today if it is true, it could saves a few lives.

Basically a guy was in his bathroom and saw one of his ex's pregnancy tests, for a laugh he peed on it. To his shock it said he was pregnant, it turns out one of the things the test looks for is given off by men with testicular cancer. If this is true we could have a home test kit for testicular cancer, only downside is more uncomfortable looking blokes buying pregnancy test kits.

The story was on reddit, sadly can't link it due to being on my mobile.

I have heard it before a few years ago.

I wouldn't want men to assume if they don't get two little lines pop up then it must mean they are all clear. It is always best to go get anything checked out no matter how stupid it may seem!

It's partly true, yes he did use the pregnancy test, yes it did come back positive, yes it did indicate he had testicular cancer.

Is a pregnancy test an effective test for testicular cancer? Apparently not, as not all forms of TC produce the hormone that was detected and the hormone can be produced in other ways, giving a false positive.

Having testicular cancer years ago, apart from being embarrassed buying a test kit, I might have gone sooner to the doctors than the 4 months I left it.

You can buy dead cheap, very accurate pregnancy tests off ebay.

But it is better to get it checked out as has been said - it's not a reliable test for cancer.

I read once nearly all guys get a positive result from pregnancy tests as they produce the hormone that pregnant women produce.

Hoax Slayer says: A home pregnancy test may indicate testicular cancer in a small minority of men that have the disease. However, a man could have testicular cancer even if the pregnancy test gives a negative result. Thus, the test is certainly not a reliable method of screening for testicular cancer. Indeed, relying on such a screening method could prove fatal.
