"Only if you want to be seen as a cunt by the whole street. They are the proverbial since they found out I own a swinging club! Being called a slut in the street! That's a bit shitty lol " So it is more than a parking dispute then ? They are seemingly offended by your business and this petty practice is being done to antagonise / incite ? I am sure there must be some recourse for this behaviour if not the parking issue itself ? How soon it can be resolved is another matter ...

"An actual old school law that was never removed was that "you cannot be an obstruction on the Queens highway"... by definition ALL cars are an obstruction on the Queens highway and as such you can be doing "nothing" wrong and the fuzz can do you for it. So if your neighbour classes you as an obstruction you have a problem Phil was a traffic cop lol To be fair though - don't be a twat just move your car. Why be so petty?" Did you read my previous reply to a post. Petty? long history and pettiness is not in my nature lol

"If someone didn't know that part of the land was used for the householders vehicle, then it may be a poorly thought through mistake. However if someone knew that the land had in fact part of it used as a drive then it would be unreasonable to park and block it. Im always civil despite their insults, we live in a cul-de-sac and wouldn't recommend it to anyone lol Emergency access may be needed too and I'd hate to think of fire or ambulance needing ready access if there's a block. Whilst law covers many things, there is also application of courtesy and general good behaviour that's civil and respectful. Whatever the neighbours have done I'd give them easy access. It may also prevent escalation of tit for tat etc. Show them how good respectful neighbours behave. Good luck!"

"It is only illegal to block a drive if there is a car on it, there isnt a law against blocking an empty drive, but you risk upsetting people you have to live near, so best finding somewhere else to park " I have an insider in my local council roads dept and the above applies If the driveway is empty then yes you can park, if there is a car in the driveway then they need to get out so your a twat if you've blocked them in Personally I live in a Private Road so nobody parks near my house without the risk of being clamped, towed away and a good swift boot to the balls for being an arsehole

Neighbour: would you mind moving your vehicle for a moment so we can get in/out You: no problem, jump in and move Neighbour: thank you And you both go about your day. At least that's how it happens on my street when my driveway is blocked occasionally. It's so small an inconvenience it's not even worth whining about. " This! Yesterday we were working on a road where the only space available was ever so slightly overhanging someone's drive. I left a note in the van window saying "We're sorry but there was no where else - we're working at number 7 this is our phone number if you need us to move no problem just ask!" With a smiley face.... actually got some work from the guy who needed us to move as we seemed so polite!

Maybe it was just the workmen earning a few extra quid?? Most councils charge an arm and a leg to do it and on some roads will deem that there is insufficient roadside parking already and won't drop any more kerbs. With regard to parking across the drive, if there is a car in there you can have your vehicle removed. I wouldn't park there in order to keep the peace, there are more things in the world to worry about.

"Just been informed it costs £600 to pay for a dropped kerb via the council. My neighbours are twats! And no they do not own the property. They privately rent it. 600-800 and even then they would struggle to get the fuzz to move you. They could key you mind. aAready had that done! They rang the police earlier as I parked over their empty 'drive' for 5 minutes while we were loading a van Where they waiting to come in or out? nope, 'drive' was empty " how did they know you were blovking it for 'only 5 mins' then? they must have been wanting to get on if the called the police about it. and why call it a 'drive'? if they park their car on it its a drive, no need for the inverted comma's. sounds to me you are being more than a little antagonistic and petty about the whole thing. Is parking at such a premium on your street?

" They are the proverbial since they found out I own a swinging club! Being called a slut in the street! That's a bit shitty lol Well, clearly the best way to prove you're better than them is to be a complete cock. Oh no... wait..." haha

"Just been informed it costs £600 to pay for a dropped kerb via the council. My neighbours are twats! And no they do not own the property. They privately rent it. A few years ago our whole street was asked by the council, who were redoing the pavements, if anyone wanted a dropped kerb. It cost us about £30. I think your being conned. I wouldn't park there in order to keep the peace, there are more things in the world to worry about." It was official, they wrote to tell us when the work would start and if we we required a dropped kerb, if so, contact the council regarding payment. Bit their hand off!

"You can prevent access in, but not allow to prevent access out, they can get car removed it blocking their exit from their land " you cant prevent access in or out if the drive has a lowered kerb, it is illegal to do so.

"You can park across a dropped kerb in front of a drive unless it has a white line in front of it " no you cant, you cannot block access in or out of a driveway.

"You can park across a dropped kerb in front of a drive unless it has a white line in front of it no you cant, you cannot block access in or out of a driveway." You cannot block the egress of a vehicle joining the main road but it doesn't work the other way round

"No dropped kerb then it's not legally a drive see below!! Anyone wanting a front drive will need authorisation from the council. There is nothing to stop you removing the garden wall but, unless you have permission you won't be allowed to use the space to park your car. If you don't have authorisation, in effect you are driving over the council's pavement without permission. If anyone complains, the council is likely to send someone to inspect your property and you can be fined. You may also be forced to pay for any damage that your car has done to the pavement - replacing broken stones etc. Also, if you have an unauthorised cross over, anyone can park in front of your drive and block you in. You won't be able to do much about it. After all, they'll be parked legally: it's you who is breaking the law!" this is what i thought to be true also ( mrs )

Oddly enough I was told people cannot block my driveway and block me in but they can block my driveway stopping me getting on it and whilst I can ring the police to get the driver to move their car, they don't have to to let me on it only off it, not that they give a shit as I get idiots blocking it all the time. And yes I know that without a dropped kerb, its not illegal to block a 'driveway'

" you cannot block access in or out of a driveway." I was just about to argue with this but decided to Google it. According to Herts police website, there has been a change in the law and it is illegal to block a dropped kirb that is used for vehicle use or pedestrian use... Ie a driveway or a crossing point for a footpath.... This is enforced by the local council....

"Had this with a neighbour years ago who regularly park with just enough of his car over the gap to stop me getting out but not blocking me in if that makes sence .bought an old skip filled with soul parked where he was to leave me room sorted " I suggest you check the byelaws where you are. In my area, in order to put a skip on the public highway, you need to be a licensed skip operator, there is a £15 per week fee, you need to put up safety markings and lights on it at night. There is a £1,000 fine for non compliance. I think pretty much everywhere, you need a licence and there is a fee, though the finer detail may be different where you live.
