As a united fan it is so depressing watching them. 150 mill spent in the summer and still a million miles away. The defence is shambolic and all needs replacing. Young and valencia are not good enough for United. Fellaini can only head a ball he can't kick one. Carrick is inly player who can pass a ball. I feel sorry for rvp he's isolated. Poor di maria he must regret signing. Anyone agree or am I been harsh

Harsh! were 5th can go 3rd with a win with a team who have had 30+ injuries this season, ahley young and Valencia are solid atm and remember there only playing as wingbacks because Rafael and Shaw two of the prems best attacking full backs are injured, herrera and mata should start more often in the midfield, rvp is a shadow of his former self, if falcao gets fit then say hello to the prems best striker, the midfield is very creative, We miss di Maria he's a great great player, once the team is settled it will be a beast of a team!

I just hope we turn up and put some effort in against them. it means a lot more to the fans than to most of the players...rooney excluded.

Rafael, both centre backs, fellaini, mata (as he isn't a centre mid does not suit him) and I still think we need a better holding player than blind. So there the 6 areas id look to improve on

Ferguson is still having a lil say in the team isnt he? I thought he was part of the board?...we have cracking strikers, a mean machine of a midfield we just need better defenders...its hard to replace ferdinand and vidic especially. I think we need a commanding defense leader like ferdinand was....dont know who would be up for the task but we need it. Da Gea is a fantastic golie too and still young so theres time to flourish to become an outstanding one just like our past Golies. We need time to settle also as key players left...the best manager in the world left too plus weve had injuries left right and centre...so give us a year or two and well be back fighting stronger than ever....were giving all the other teams a chance for once....

Edward Glazer, one of Malcolm Glazer's six children, has put three million shares in Manchester United up for sale, little more than six months after his father's death, and stands to recoup in the region of 45million US dollars (£28.7million).

Malcolm Glazer took ownership of United in May 2005, but his death in May this year saw his children take an equal split of shares.

A statement released by the Barclays Premier League club and the New York Stock Exchange - where 10 per cent of United's shares are listed - announced the offer of "Class A Ordinary Shares".

It means Edward Glazer, who serves as co-chairman of Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is co-president of the Glazer Family Foundation, is to receive a windfall from the sale, which could be concluded this week.

The statement read: "Manchester United plc today announced the offering of 3,000,000 of its Class A Ordinary Shares by the Edward S. Glazer Irrevocable Exempt Trust (the 'Selling Shareholder').

"The underwriter will have an option to purchase up to an additional 450,000 Class A Ordinary Shares from the Selling Shareholder.

"Manchester United will not receive any proceeds from the sale of any Class A Ordinary Shares by the Selling Shareholder. The offering is expected to close on December 12, 2014, subject to customary closing conditions."

Just abit of news about the shares....anyone rich enough to invest? Lol

Bit of transfer rumours....

Rob Shepherd writes in the Daily Mail that Manchester United are interested in signing Mats Hummels in January , but will have to pay Dortmund £32m to get him.

The Sunday People report that Ryan Giggs is being lined up for the manager's job at Wigan if Malky Mackay is forced to leave the club by the FA.

According to the Express, Real Madrid are not interested in signing Javier Hernandez permanently , leaving the striker free to talk to clubs in January if he does not sign a new Reds deal.

The Star write that United are preparing a bid for Spurs stopper Hugo Lloris in summer - should they lose David de Gea to Real Madrid.

The Mail on Sunday report that Falcao has been given a deadline of April to prove his fitness before the club decide on whether to make his loan permanent.

If any of these are true Hummels is a brilliant player and also Lloris us a top class keeper too.

Raphael is a great attacking full back but hampered by injuries, hummels would be a great addition no doubt about that, Ashley young looks to have all the confidence he had back at Villa back all of a sudden but the biggest benefit is having a guy who believes in himself at the helm...

look im not trying to be funny here, im not a man utd fan, however I have took a keen interest in them over my lifetime as a sort of 2nd team to me, I agree withyou on hummels on definatly, but I couldnt disagree more on rafael, he isnt a great attacking defender, far from it, he isnt worthy of a man utd shirt, and as for ashley young, the shame he has brought with his diving antics again and again, he should never play for a club like man utd.

I've seen every minute of every game this season and don't share the OPs pessimism.

Van Gaal is brilliant and you can see what he's developing with the team. The closest performance to his aim was Hull at home a couple weeks ago.

I cannot think of another squad that would be in the top three having been ravished by so many injuries. Possibly Chelsea.

Fully fit, the team are one or two players away from being spot on.

Outside of Hummels, Pique and Strootman, I cannot think of any realistic additions that will improve us.

Van Gaal is doing a great job.

You have more chance of 4th then Everton, they have a small, relatively old squad and cant cope with the Europe league as well as the premiership.

And neither of you will finish within 10 points of United.

I'm surprised at the optimism of some people about United this season. Great we are winning. But how much luck have we had? Hung on at home to Everton, hung on at home to west ham and Stoke, away at arsenal and Southampton we were battered. Our luck will run out. I'm not a hater I'm fully behind van gaal. I just feel we still have a lot of deadwood and need serious additions to challenge. I've followed United since 1991 and this team couldn't lace the boots of some of the great teams we have had.

You say Man utd have had luck in some games, true but also had a lot of bad luck with injuries, Jonny Evans only just come back from injury, now Shaw and Di Maria and Falcao injured, many players having to play out of position at the back, Carrick was playing centre half against southampton, so not a full strength team.

Song is your best player in my opinion, but who would he replace in our first eleven?

None of the top teams wanted him, that's why he waited until the last minute before signing for you. West Ham are doing very well but I think you'll be lucky to finish top 8. That would be a brilliant result for Big Sam.
