"Northerners tend to be a lot more friendlier in my experience. They say exactly what they want too, which helps. " midlands/northerners are more friendly in my experience. I'm a midlander living down south and i've had lots of comments from locaal contacts about how smiley and friendly i am so i think it could be true.

"having travelled fairly extensively round the country i would have to say the northerners are the friendliest and most playful crowd. certainly more welcoming to strangers to the area, inviting them to join in the hospitality and fun " Have to say, having cycled into Sunderland city centre on a saturday night having cycled all the way from Workington in Cumbria i was apprehensive to say the least... Doing the same in Manchester city centre at 10pm at night would probably end in a kicking & your bike being nicked, but everyone we met/saw was really friendly and encouraged us to keep pedalling to make it to Roker Pier. It's true about the women though - they don't wear much!
