The 'Elgin' Marbles have been loaned by the British Museum to the Russians.

An affront to Greece or finders keepers?

I don't think there's much doubt that although they were stolen/looted, if they had been left there they would not be so well preserved as they are now.

However, the world has changed and I think it's time to give them back

Maybe we should start giving back Spanish and French gold too then?? What about the minerals we took from the Americas or India???

The spoils of war were one of the reasons wars were previously fought. Indeed looking at oilfields etc now you can argue we still fight for them..
