Hereabouts

I've just had a full on fight with my sister. I don't bruise but my face is red and puffy. She has a fat lip and her mouth is bleeding.

I feel like crap for hitting her back.

She's walked out and I've not stopped crying since she left. She won't respond to my texts. I just want to hug her and tell her I'm sorry.

What should I do?!

Insults telling me I'm a bitch etc are welcome, as I already know that!!

Both of you need time to cool off. Siblings fight all the time, my brother and I have come to blows many times over the years.

Leave things be for the evening and get in touch with her in the morning. You'll both see the futility of fighting each other after calming down.

She hit you when you were on crutches?? Bit naughty!

Your sister will always be your sister both cool down and talk it through when the anger has subsided.

(saying silent thanks that I've never been in that situation)

Is physical fighting something you two do often and what caused it?

Only once in the past. And she broke my nose last time.

It was silly. She's got a bad attitude and she said something to piss me off. Then threw my straighteners at me so I grabbed her jumper and she hit me

Oh dear. I don't know you obviously but fisticuffs isn't the way forward for either of you and it's clearly upset you. Text her maybe, say you're sorry but that you need to sort it when you get back.

Then when you're both calm talk it through.

Best of luck.

I've texted her a few times saying I'm sorry and that I love her. She's not replying but she's at her friends house and she's ok. Nothing's broken. I still feel like shit for hitting her back though

When you're back, take her for lunch or something and chat about why it happened and how to move on from it. If you're anything like my brother and I, you're fighting over something daft anyway.

She knows youve been texting her, i would leave things to settle.. Mustve been quite heated if youve both been injured physically like that. Obviously theres strong feelings to cause that, perhaps talking things over at a latr date?

you hit her back - so you retaliated and feel bad - maybe she feels bad for lashing out in the first place but being younger is doing the stropthing - go away for the weekend and it will look a bit different by monday - in the scheme of things a weekend out isnt very long just a misery

Actually.. Just to add.. She or you or both of you may be acting on assumptions such as thinking she or you are doing something deliberatly to wind each other up.. Would be best to talk about it calmly later.. She may accuse you of something or visa versa so be prepared to calmly explain things. Hope you get sorted

Thank you all.

We've spoken. I'll call her in the morning. It's looking as though my theory about not bruising is a false one. Maybe I should have said i don't bruise easily. Either way I shouldn't have hit her back and I should have known better. We are both ok. No broken bones, just a few cuts and bruises. We will both survive!

Great to hear, now for my old man bit though........think before using violence next time. It's definitely not worth destroying a family relationship over.

Yeah I know. Screaming usually does the trick but i think hormones in a house full of women are running a bit high lol. No man would want to set foot in this house - he would fear for his life!

My sisters used to fight like crazy people. Used to punch Crap out of each other.

Very amusing to a ten year old boy and his mates watching them smack the shit out of each other. Lol

Always made up after.

I have known brothers who punch Crap out of each other.

Thunk it's normal for sisters to fight and brothers. Just not brother and sister.

Neither of you should have hit the other, but you know that. Physical or mental abuse in any relationship is wrong as you know and is why you feel bad. Talking is the only way forward for you both. x
