Anyone else dislike Xmas?

Northants

For whatever reason?

I used to enjoy it when my son was young as I believe it's more for kids.

Also when I was with my ex as we would have the whole family round.

Maybe I'm just being bah humbug but I just can't be arsed with it this year!

I don't dislike it, but equally I'm not all that bothered by it.

I buy for gifts for people when I feel like it, I don't need a reason.

I'm working it through choice this year. If I wasn't working I'd look at doing some kind of voluntary work.

Christmas is a lovely time for families with young children, however has now lost its significance on the high altar of retail commercialism.

So yes Bah Humbug from me too.

no matter

My teen Xmas's were ruined by a very grumpy stepfather who used to beat up on my Mum so we used to spend the days in my bedroom whilst he and his grown up children had fun. sadly in the days of no xtra telly and no heat. Afraid it tarnished my enjoyment somewhat.

Was good when my kids were home I made an effort but now Im a real bah humbug person.

Before we had kids christmas was pretty boring the child like excitement had gone. But now we have two little cuties it's totally fan-fucking-taste thier excitement is very very contagious and watching them open thier gifts from Santa ( he always gets the credit ) and the look on their faces is magical.

I love christmas because of my kids and also Lurrve a big fat christmas dinner xx

We enjoy Christmas but we tend to keep it in our own way, quietly, with family and nice food. In fact we don't celebrate the birth of Christ we see it more as a mid winter feast

As a child Christmas was always bad, guaranteed an argument between my mum and step dad. When my kids were born it made it a happier time, seeing them enjoy it and having fun made it so much better for me.

Now as its not likely I'm going to get to see them much over the Christmas period due to work commitments and my ex wife not exactly being fair about me seeing them it's back to being a craps time again

I can really ignore the run up to it, all the over the top crap. I have three bits of tinsel to put on the pictures and a black bah-humbug hat. But seen the grandkids getting all excited is great.

It doesn't help that I'm usually working abroad in the run-up to Christmas, so that part doesn't feel very special.

I love it...I've been single for 4 of them so far and have no kids but I make the most out of Christmas. I think it's such a positive time of the year and I love it. However I also understand that for some it can be the most depressing time of the year. Hence why I've opened my door on Christmas day to friends who are going to be on their own

I enjoy Christmas. It's often a hard time though for split families and elderly people as everything grinds to a halt. I have such great memories of Christmas past and try to re create those for my loved ones. I'm already looking forward to a long break from work!

I dont see the point, ask kids what Christmas is and most don't have a clue, it's all about getting as much as you can, I think for a lot of people Christmas is just a expense they can't afford, so many get into debt because they don't want to disappoint their kids then spend the rest of the year struggling to pay huge interest loans back

I don't believe in God or jesus there for i don't celebrate it, hardly anyone now days celebrates the true meaning of Christmas

the only good thing about xmas is the extra play over that period

I can take it or leave it...last year I went on hols to Morocco with my bestie and spent Xmas day in the Sahara...this year I'm going to my sister's in-law's for Xmas day - honestly though, I'd be happy enough stuffing my face with chocs and wine and watching Dr Who - I've mainly agreed to be in company because my sister would feel bad if I was alone (I wouldn't)

I choose not to personally celebrate christmas as I am an atheist and feel that celebrating a religious festival would be hypocricital.

However, I have two young children (whom I have shared residence of) and feel that it would be unfair of me to make them miss out when they are with me.

i am the same, I always bough my kids presents at Xmas even though I don't believe in God or personaly celebrate it because I didn't like the though of other kids taking the piss out of mine for getting nothing, sad that we have to feel this way

We should really get back to the way of celebrating the year end before it was hijacked by the christians and then the money makers. The traditional way of celebrating is with loads of booze, lots of food and plenty of debauchery- Eat, drink and get down and dirty.

I like the social side of christmas, the giving, the food and drink and just the excuse to be stupid and happy.

Christmas is my favourite time of year.

(for the record, my kids have written their Santa lists ans each just asked for a couple of things, so I'm passing that ethos on)

Agree with you Femme

Once december starts i get into the xmas spirit, great time of year to see friends and family you've maybe not seen for a while and usually lots of parties and nights out to go on. Plus time off work which i always enjoy.

I'm not religious and don't particularly like it now kids aren't little. And the pressure it puts people under is awful. Love giving gifts any time, so a good excuse.

One doesn't have to kneel at that altar.

My young son will be busy opening presents but I haven't gone crazy nor have a lot of other parents I know.

I gently remind him of the meaning of Christmas when he starts asking for toys.

I didn't like being single at Christmas. Now I have a husband and kids it's brilliant.

The worst Christmas of my life was when I split from my first husband in October, years ago. We'd only been married 4 months. That was a baaaaad Christmas.
