"Anyone else watching this ? One lady thinks she shouldn't pay the bedroom tax a she has a poltergeist in one of her spare rooms. What I don't like is the makers pick some vulnerable people to film and seem to get a kick out of making them look bad. " Deliberately not watching.

I should have gone for Gogglebox instead!

" Getting pissed off with these types of programmes demonising those struggling to get by. But as long as we look the other way when It's some over privileged lah de dah then It's all good... " What frustrated me watching it was that, one participant clearly had issues with alcohol. That was part of the reason he was behind on rent as that's where lots of his money went. The makers of the programme skew it so it looks like he just watches TV drinking cider - which he does. However he'd given up work to care for his parents who had died in that house. It had clearly affected him and he had turned to drink. He wasn't exactly having a ball. There is always a story behind the story.

"There is no such thing as a bedroom tax. Those who use benefits to pay their rent who choose to live in a place that has more space than they need don't get extra benefits to pay for it is all. For it to be a tax then it would need to get paid to the government. " And it was originally brought in by labour, but only for people in private rented accommodation.. the Tories extended to include council housing as well. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the next term if office it is not further extended to include owned and not just tenanted properties.

There are not enough smaller dwellings, that is the problem. You can't use just the whip, you have to use a carrot as well.
