"as I was born in Manchester when it was still part of Lancs - thanks and same back to you! x"

Some would argue that it is ( well most of it) traditionally, historically etc. Legally it is still part of Lancashire, part of 'Real Lancashire' & the County Palatine ( Duchy) of Lancashire. It is not part of Lancashire politically or part of Lancashire as a local government administrative area any more. The flag/crest of Greater Manchester has the 'Red Rose' in it.

Regardless all Manchester people are welcome Manchester is a great place. x

I can appreciate both sides' points of view, having spent many of my formative years in a town right on the border. In fact, a long long time ago, the border used to go through the town centre, Legend says it also went through the middle of the town hall, and even through the middle of the gents toilet in the town hall basement. This meant that , according to your allegiance, you could stand in one county and piss on t'other. Allegedly.

Think the old border went through the middle of the town of Todmorden at one point.
