I went to the one in Cologne a few years ago as I was working there. It's right next to the cathedral and as the brass band starting playing carols it started to snow ! Typical german efficiency !

Don't know why but I started to get a few tears in my eyes, and this is Adam typing

Think of a reasonable price to pay for a product, double it, then double it again. That is the price you'll be asked to pay at a Christmas Market

It's a good day out, quite a buzz (especially on a cold crisp day the nearer you get to Christmas and the more festive you're feeling) but expect rip off prices!

Having said that I'm off to one in the next couple of weeks

Only been to Cologne so far and that was really good. The setting next to the Cathedral gives it a very festive feel, especially in the light sprinkling of snow we had, while we were there.

Going to Manchester market next month so will be able draw a comparison. Looking forward to it as haven't done the matket for ages.

I became a Gluwein fan while I was there too, so no doubt will be partaking again *hic*

If they are anything like the Leeds one they are full of overpriced tat. One stall was selling Russian dolls for £60(made in China)my niece got some the same size but much better quality(made in Russia) for £10 last year in St Petersburg.

I love the Birmingham Christmas market but then to hit it on the opening week or it gets mega busy.

I just love browsing the stalls then having a sausage and plenty of gluhwein while having a sing along with the entertainment act. Then when the market closes heading down to broad street for cocktails.

I'm meeting a fellow fabster and venturing into the market next week I know it will be heaving though so doubt we will see much but propping up the gluhwein bar sounds good

My fave ones are the ones in Europe, been to various ones over the years. Luxemburg, Germany, Belgium and France. They seem to capture the Christmas spirit without being commercialised

Winter wonderland in Hyde Park I dislike with a passion, been twice now. It's over crowded takes ages to get a drink then once have said drink no where to sit down and enjoy the drink. A small bag of pick n mix cost me £10 and what has a circus got to do with Christmas?

At the European ones you do not get a circus, you get local clubs schools performing... Normally I have no idea what the song/play is about but it's enjoyable.

And they seem to have a Christmas smell more so....

So My faves have to be in Europe I'm afraid
