Once again it takes the murder to bring attention to these womens plight.Only to be forgotten in a few weeks to allow the business to resume as normal.

The question hangs heavy wuth me" why is that this man( banker) and others feel embolden to treat these women this way, and prior to conviction fantasise they are immuned from consequences.

It just does'nt happen in far away places but happens here to.Most understand the reasons( poverty etc) why it exists and few women are there out of choice...

Is'nt about time a radical new approach fit for the 21st century is needed.

No longer should sex workers be stigmaticed by western govts.. But regocgnised as an occupation just like any other.

Allow these women some dignity, afterall be honest isn,t the fear of poverty that we all take up other employment anyway.....

If the government normalise this stuff then i'm pretty sure a lot of them would be exposed for their part in illegal activities, such a peadophilia. They'd much rather the worker was stigmatised so it easier to disbelieve them because, you know they're trash, a criminal and therefore and a liar etc...well they aren't but that's the general consensus about these people.

But yes it is sad in this day and age, and more so in the past, that sex workers can be looked down on, and their murder might even be seen, by some, as oh well another criminal i don't have to pay to keep in prison.

Could,nt agree more...

Your right respectability is not encouraged for there work...,

Because yes it would indeed reveal the true extent of those who are deemed respectable you are main clientele...

Why would a government lessen it's restrictions/views on an 'industry' rife with abuse and crime?

And to pre-empt the notion that legalisation reduces trafficking and organised crime, that's not true and the evidence from the Netherlands has shown it not to be true.

Yes agreed the dutch example is far from perfect.

However an attempt has to be made........ legislation and a way has to be found to legitimise and protect both provider and buyer surely....

Bankers hey. Not happy enough with shafting an entire country, laundering money for drug dealers and terrorists, rigging exchange rates and lending rates, selling worthless items of insurance to people who couldn't even use them, intentionally employing psychopaths, partaking in illegal drugs and having sex with rent boys in the boardroom, deliberately closing down profitable firms to seize their assets, taking illegal bribes and giving illegal bribes and tax evasion..... Now they want to hack the heads of prostitues as well ..

Still we,d really miss them if they left to go to Switzerland

Interesting story unfolding about this guy- the murderer ...

He's not pleading insanity ..

Instead he's using the 'drug' story.

Interestingly, he left an email in his 'out of office reply' at the bank telling people he was a good for nothing person and not to bother wasting their time contacting a low "life and bad person like him...,basically telling them to stay clear of him!

Red tape often bankrupts small businesses. Why not use it to bankrupt the criminal element? Cant see your average pimp filling out forms and appling for medicals.

"You read Lindi st clairs biography? Was written a couple of decades ago and was quite an eye opener then."

I've read "Working" by Dolores French which was interesting.

She pressed charges against a client for rape which was unheard of at the time.

Their out murdering prostitutes... Well I guess they need a hobby after a hard day in the office

If it's not public knowledge, and being reported officially, it's effectively hearsay.

Should you be discussing it on here, do you think?

It will be public knowledge very soon for sure. I have a right to bring this into the forum fir discussion and it appals me that currently it has been swept under the carpet with nothing about the crime nor the plight or issues regarding the sex workers here in Hong Kong.

it was reported widely in the press in november, all about the drugs and mental illness and prompted many articles on sex workers an bankers. The story will naturally go quite till the trial.

There hadn't been much publicity in HK about this, more the focus on the domestic helpers being treated like slaves, in the main by Chinese employers.

They are worried about tourism being affected because of the occupied Central movement.. It's all about money and not wanting to publicise the less 'attractive' parts of the tourist information.. The bits you don't get on trip advisor.

Particularly as there is an issue with so many mainland Chinese visiting...that's another story!!
