They've been doing this at Bruntingthorpe aerodrome for ages. I think it's a good idea. It teaches novices about car control that they may not learn on a normal lesson.

Hmm I think that 14 is a bit too young in my opinion.

This obviously doesn't take place on public roads. It's normally on a track. There's even a race series. Some of those kids are excellent drivers and have a bright future in motorsports.

From bits and pieces ive read, its not on our roads, its on a course somewhere, apparently once 17 pupils have took a few lessons then put in for their test and first time pass rate is extremely high.

Children should be given the opportunity to drive from the earliest possible time x

I'd say riding a bike is a good introduction to driving x

no matter

I learnt to drive at 14 when my Mum learnt..up on the airfield at Harwell.

I was well able to handle a car before I ever drove on the road. I had 9 hours tuition with an instructor and passed first time .

I dont believe they should be on the roads at that age though.

leeds

I taught all my kids, two boys, two girls to drive as soon as their feet could reach the pedals and they could see the road in front, boys were around 8 the girls 11ish.

Took them on private land to get the basics and and get used to the controls, progressed every week, it was great fun for them and when they hit 17 they all had 10 lessons each and passed first time.

The lads went on to get their bike licences the girls are happy in their cars.

All in late 20's now and clean licences all round and not a joy rider amongst them!

I don't advocate the lowering of the age to drive, I'd be happy if it was raised and the test made much harder but I can't see the harm in enabling someone with knowledge be it theoretical or practical.
