Without offence.

Good morning guys and girls.

I'm looking for some clarification for my dense mind.

TV/TS ladies / guys.

I understand the term transvestite and transsexual and understand that whilst one dresses like the opposite sex and one wishes to be the opposite sex but I'm unsure of the terms in between.

There is currently another thread which uses the term 'shemale' and it's been met with less than a positive response... Fair enough.

My dense mind can't figure out the dislike of the term though.

Is what the majority of the porn loving world regard as a shemale the equivalent of a unicorn? And should we really be using the term 'pre-op transsexual' ?

I really do mean no offence by this so I hope none is taken.

W

Shemale is the porno term for TS. It's generally regarded as naff, labelling and treat us like a piece of wank fodder in TG (transgender - anything trans) circles.

OK, thanks that's great.

So, never use the word shemale... Got that. I guess I now see how it is disrespectful.

Does the sissy term fit in anywhere here? Or is that literally the term for guys that like to be forced to crossdress and the like?

I probably sound like a total tit. I just have intrigue and certainly don't want to go around pissing anyone off.

As Tina says above.

Shemales in porn generally have had all the hormones and surgeries except they still have a cock and sometimes balls.

It's a term not liked by most regular transsexuals, however there are still many out there that do identify themselves as Shemale.

I think there's slightly more to 'Sissy' culture than just being forced to dress. I think it's a whole lot more expansive. Not my thing.

Neither is it mine, I'm just curious about the terminology and PC of it all.

I've probably now gone and offended anyone that considers themselves a sissy.... Oops.

Frankly, I hate labelling (in any area), but it's a real pain in the TG world. I go to a fair few TG events, like BNO, Leeds First Friday and so on, and it's a minefield trying to work out what label someone prefers. Hence, it's just better to take someone as them, an individual.

On one night out in Nottingham, a new girly made a nuisance of herself by asking a few peeps 'what' they were.

Heard and understood loud and clear

Can't you just get a sticky label or something?

Just a point for clarification, a TS person does not wish to be the opposite sex. They are the opposite sex but in the wrong body.

It can be a minefield, I agree. However, the extent to which most TS people face issues and prejudices that cis-gendered people never consider, makes it a little more understandable that apparently small things can cause offence or upset.

Most trans- people I've known wouldn't have a problem with anyone asking questions in an effort to better understand, (as long as the question isn't, as Tina says, "what are you?").
