Black&White Utopia

Wow what a film! Saw this yesterday and really worth a watch ...

This film is a nail-biting race against time following Alan Turing (pioneer of modern-day computing and credited with cracking the German Enigma code) and his brilliant team at Britain's top-secret code-breaking centre, Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II. Turing, whose contributions and genius significantly shortened the war, saving thousands of lives, was the eventual victim of an unenlightened British establishment, but his work and legacy live on.....

What an amazing Man... His only 'crime' was being gay.... Times have changed thank goodness.... Any one eles seen it?

My aunt was one of the ladies on the decoding machines at Bletchley. We found out at her funeral that they were sworn to a 50 year secrecy act.

Apparently it was a well known fact that until the 70,s the secretaries knew all the secrets!

No wonder James bond was such a great spy

Yep, looks fab.

Think I'll organise another family visit to Bletchley Park agreeing seeing the film.

Gone girl was good too...though the ending wasn't as satisfying as I'd hoped. Affleck does well with these kinda roles...

I shall b watching it this week - I hope they don't gloss over the appalling treatment the establishment gave such a great man for the purposes of Hollywood spectacle.

-

Saw 'Interstellar' - Very pretty, but the plot / story is an overblown mess.

Off to see it on Monday. I also recommend Mr Turner. That was a delightful film

.

It was a bit worse than appalling, jail or chemical castration for an act of homosexuality and I can't remember exactly but wasn't he found out through a burglary

What a good film! Well written, well acted, great cinematography and every word of dialogue audible.

I laughed and I cried.

Amazing man

So shocking that he, and people like your Aunt Banana Cake, died without the recognition they deserved.

He was good but I'd be very surprised if that was an Oscar performance.

Saw the film at the weekend, very good it was too. Unusual for a war film for the Yanks not to take the credit

There was hundreds, it was a very long laborious process entering information, which was one of the teams biggest achievements was building quicker machines.

I can't remember the engineers name but if I remember correctly he went on to develop the colossus which was the world's first computer

Black&White Utopia

I didn't wanna give too much away in my original post re the end of this film as didnt wanna spoil the ending ( so to speak) .... But Wow! To think that wasn't that many years ago, and the choice for gay men ( being convicted just because they were gay) was jail or chemical castration .... Thank goodness times have changed ... ( in some countries its still illegal and total taboo)
