There seems to be a trend over recent years to stretch out any official occasion or event. For instance birthdays have become birthday weeks, Bonfire night Bonfire week and the 12 days of Christmas the 60 days of Chrismas with house decorations already appearing.

I wonder why?

Because we like to keep the feeling of happiness for as long as we can. The world is such a depressing place at times

I thunk it sucks the sense of occasion out of the event itself and makes it less special.

Christmas is just a commercial event based on a religious celebration which itself was dated to co-incide with an earlier religious festival in an attempt to convert the native populations of countries in Europe to convert to Christianity and be under the control of the church and state.

Bah Humbug!!

I think it's sad that there's huge peer pressure NOT to put up decorations early. People should be able to put them up whenever. July if they want.

Or sod it, never take them down!

Anti-humbug.
