but transvestism was invented in Scotland,,,,,,,hence the kilt.

I along with some esteemed historians have researched this.

Transvestism was rampant in the highland clans not only did they adopt the skirt (kilt) many clansmen wore face paint (makeup to you and I) early on clansmen wore simple eyeshaddow and lipstick but by the mid 15th century they wore false eyelashes, blusher ,foundation, painted their nails and wore their hair long often curled and highlights added, also haggis where used as false breasts, historians believe this was to deflect sword blows.

This can be seen in woodcut prints of the period.

One example from 1462 entitled "yon big Jessie" shows "Bonnie slutty Susan Macduff" wearing the "kilt" full makeup long locks and high heeled shoes hand on hip and proudly pouting.

Many battles where won as the enemy would choose to flee the field of battle rather than fight with women others fled in fear of such ugly women charging at them.

On many occasions the enemy would be captured by "stunning" T'Clansmen falling for their long legs and and fluttering lashes.

More can be read on this fascinating subject in my new book THE ORIGINS OF TRANSVESTISM available at all good book stores and online
