Art for arts sake.....

I've just been rearranging my paintings at home which led me to wondering what you all have hanging in pride of place. My taste is rather eclectic but I love them all. I have a wall of watercolours of favourite places. The Tuileries in Paris, Venice, Princes St Gardens in Edinburgh and St Andrews beach to name a few. But my favourite prints are Van Gogh's Almond Blossom and Klimt's Goldfish and an abstract print called Red Memory made up of things from the artists childhood. All give me immense pleasure.

What's your favourite....and does it hold special memories? X

My pride of place is an antique map of Ontario that I bought when I visited family there some years back. I had it framed and it graces my fireplace wall. The others are school pics of my 3 children. The only year they've all been good ones!

Brighton - even Hove!

There's a Sussex landscape artist called Andrew Dandridge and I have one of his. My favourites are the ones the kids did at primary school

I bought a sketch at an auction because I liked it. When I did some research on the artist, the auction house got the name wrong. Turns out my sketch is by the celebrated American war artist Kerr Eby. Last similar sketch sold in America for £6000. Not selling it though. I love it

Newcastle upon Tyne

We have three pieces in the living room, a 3d painting by John Wilson and two painting by local artists from Italy and Hong Kong which remind us of places we have lived.

In the bedroom we have three raunchy painting by Drew Darcy.

I have a painting my son did for his Higher Art exam over my bed. Its him and me looking out over the sea...its very atmospheric and I adore it but it's also very private.

I have quite a collection going on: a few Michael Goddard's and Levi Dorit's. Think of them as my pension fund (tho they give me immense pleasure!) Bought a Dorit for £500 years ago but recently had it valued at £5k. I think she will be seen as like Picasso in years to come (tho my friends think they are crap lol)

I have a print of Klimt's birch forest in my living room and a number of Klimt's portraits in my bedroom.

Most valuable though is a oil on canvas board that one of my first girlfriends painted. She is now a celebrated artist and ceramicist.
