Grrr - been chatting on and off to a lovely lady recently - all of a sudden today her profile is hidden and she says the trolls have been out in force today. Now I see she is UNLOS.

I'm sure there's already been a hundred threads on this but I just don't get why some people have to troll and make people feel bad about themselves or make their lives a misery!

Really effin' gets my goat - nobody deserves random anonymous keyboard warriors trolling them. Is it fun to the trolls? What do they get out of it?

Anyway rant over. Think before you type people. Words are powerful

Agree for the likes of you and me (I just let any trolling wash over me anyway, I couldn't give two hoops) but not everyone has that constitution - it can get to them.

People that get pleasure from, or feel the need to do, any trolling need to take a bloody long hard look in the mirror and realise how powerful their comments can be

Random keyboard warriors telling me I'm at or ugly, or constantly trolling me don't upset me. I either block them, or keep replying to them until they run out of insults.

You need a thick skin for this, if people you don't know messaging you is upsetting, then this type of site probably isn't for you.

I'm so paranoid that I won't send anyone pictures until I've met them in the flesh, I like to have a social just a quick coffee within days of speaking to a potential fuck. Once I've seen them with my own eyes I'll send some pictures leading up to the proper meet.

Some people that troll are normally people that have nothing going on in their own lives so the only way they get attention is online. They'll purposely say things for a reaction because even negative attention is attention.

see this is interesting, your not even sure that 'she was a she' so her assertion that she was forced to leave could just be some sort of wind up..?

on the actual point about 'trolling' one would agree that there isn't any need for abuse etc but it is sadly part of this means of communication..

Quite possibly. But we weren't going down a route about meeting / sex. Just low volume messages now and then - if it was a wind up or having a laugh then the type of messages & frequency would certainly have been different.

OP, by posting this thread, are you not yourself "Trolling" ie throwing a line out, a baited line, and expecting a reaction to it? Presumably though, only a reaction that agrees with your predisposition?

Are you not making the common misake of confusing trolling with abuse?

This site is comparatively dainty compared to some I've been on *cof*AFF*cof* so its a good one to cut ones teeth on. We have privacy settings and filters and block buttons. WE can ignore cretins and delete without reply. If someone really wants to use this site for its intended purpose then you just have to put up with flamers and trolls, as they are as old as the internet.

Maybe I am - trolling was the word that she / he used but perhaps I do mean abuse. But anyway whether I've been duped by a man / woman (who joined the site some considerable months before me, so they were certainly playing a long game!) or not, who knows?

Perhaps they've rejoined and are looking on pissing themselves laughing at this thread, again who knows.

I guess the point still stands whether or not it is applicable in this case or not - I still don't get why people feel the need to troll / abuse others they don't know. They still need to take a long hard look in the mirror!

Sometimes peoples inability to ignore words typed on a keyboard by total strangers astounds me.

There will be trolls for as long as the internet exists.

On web based contact sites (such as Fab) there will always be fake profiles, keyboard warriors and those looking to get a reaction from others by the simple hitting of a few keys.

All of the above will only be successful in their pursuits when others react with the responses they seek - shock, hurt, indignation, anger or belittlement.

The easiest way to give them the satisfaction they gain from their actions is to react.

The site gives tools to avoid this - the block button and the report button.

The common sense to realise what is happening and simply ignore can only be applied by a site member - not the site itself.

I have two who constantly stalk me on here. One is always in hiding but has in the past mailed me and commented on my status, copied my pics and mailed them back to me. Had to change my e-mail address because if it.

The other I met from here and couldn't take no for an answer after I'd said no to a fourth meet. Had to change mobile number. He even got verified and changed his age to contact me last time

It's not nice and it does wear you down after a while. One reason I do things differently on this new profile. No one can message me unless I contact them first.

Unfortunately there are some sad people out there who take pleasure in making others life a misery!

Because when I have a social coffee meet I don't get my fanny out, once I'm happy the guy is the person in his pictures I'll happily send him a picture of my fanny, I like to see a guys dick before a proper meet, only fair that he can see what he'll be getting.

Plus sending pictures is a flirty build up to the meet.

It's not about having my pictures stolen though, I can't stand the thought of me sending my intimate pictures to what I think is a good looking guy only for it to be some sad act.
