I think we're fairly tolerant of crude messages that we get but does anyone else get annoyed when you get a message from someone asking if you've "had much luck"?

Although I'd be interested to know if anyone's ever said in a status I'll meet the 100th member to message

Some find it hard to strike up conversation on here that's for sure, so they go for the one common ground they can find, discussing the site, yes it's boring

It's not so much chatting about Fab in the early stages. Fab is the one thing everyone has in common initially after all.

It's just the phrase, it does rather imply that the sender is sending that to everbody they find appealing or more likely just everybody

I guess so, I've had the same question posed to me quite a few times, quite uninspiring

I usually receive it on the odd occasion I illicit a response from my original witty and thoughtful message!

It's a lame opening message but it can depend on whether a profile has much information to go on. It can be like pissing in the wind where a profile gives you nothing to go on. I've learned to bypass such profiles.

It's a question? Same as "how you finding the site"?

Conversation's a wonderful tool on here. Really. The amount you can learn off someone using it is amazing.

I suspect it's the suggestion that it's luck that is involved.

I doubt those saying it mean it like that though. It's just an expression, probably.

It's just semantics I agree. Although no doubt there are some on the site who feel that luck comes into it- normally those moaning that they've not had a meet despite paying their £5 a month !!

I usually pay £2.50/month (but paid for gold this month by accident) so I wonder if I am entitled to half a meet each month.

"

Yes this is it, and it is probably just a saying but it just makes me grrr.

Asking how you're finding the site is a much better opener, it's an infinite question and would, if a reply be is to be forthcoming, lead to a much more fruitful conversation. Think we'll just answer 'yes!' in future lol

Quite right too. Are you having much luck? Is a closed question that can be answered with a simple yes or no?

Questions beginning with how, what, where, who, which (if responded to) should ellicit a considered and more detailed response. Basic cross examination technique!!

Tuck. They said tuck.

They were wondering what had happened to the buffet
