" Personally hate dark evenings my self its depressing" I think I'd agree although I haven't given it much thought. I'm likely to be doing less at 6am than 6pm so the extra light in the evening would be better.

"I'd vote for whatever is safest, particularly for road injuries." Morning /evening rush hours seem to be equally busy to me. , so can't see a difference either way

"So if the government asked us to vote for bst all year round who would say yes?" At first I thought bst stood for 'bullshit', so I didn't understand the 'if' Mr ddc

"Just out of curiosity , which time is gmt ? Bat or bwt ? Bst* not bat" What do you mean bwt? GMT is the time we're in now, during winter.

"This matter of permanent BST was experimented with back one year around 1970. Though there were good points related to it, the negatives outnumbered the positives. The problem was that the further North in the UK you lived, it got light later. I remember going to school near Edinburgh and it was still dark at 8am. The far North of Scotland wouldn't get daylight till between 9am and 10am. It cost farmers a fortune as,well as beng detrimental to other businesses and the Government decided to keep things as they were." I don't agree, I lived on the west coast of Ireland, they have exactly the same problem due to sticking to GMT and BST and being actually a time zone westwards. The business day simply stated later, it was great light till midnight during the summer and that extra hour during the winter. I could get my shopping at 21:00 even in 1980, here Tesco's was long shut. Personally I for GMT+2 during the summer and GMT+1 during winter, but I like outdoor activities, actually scrap that GMT+2 all year round.
