Dark rumblings... GRRR

I see there are dark rumblings in the corridors of power regarding the amount of people viewing BBC programmes online via computer/iPad etc. The authorities are looking at ways of extracting a fee for viewing this content online either via a pay as you go type service or an increase in the TV licence fee... but...

A general licence to use a computer (a la TV Licence) has been ruled out.... FOR THE MOMENT! GRRRRRR

they can stick the bbc where the sun dont shine , theres feck all on it

its nearly all repeats of dads army , murder she fecking wrote , or the antiques road show

the films they have are in german , dutch , or japafeckingnese with subtittles

they get to show them cos they let other foreign companys show doctor who and shit like that and its a straight swop for no money

they get revenue from other countries like australia etc etc etc , and they get revenue from other channels that are pay channels like gold , dave , etc etc etc

thats on top of the three and a half thousand million pounds they get in liscence fees

we cant watch it anyway on the pc as were in spain now , and dont watch it in luton as we have no liscense

we would rather watch dvd,s or stuff on pc that dont need a liscense

tommorow bbc 1

escape to the countrty , homes under hammer , cash in attic , bargain hunt , news

these shows only have about 15 or 20 episodes and they go round in a continual loop like music in a fecking lift

a croc of shit

if they have a film on in the evening its something like "death wish" or "die hard"

thats after the same films have just been on itv fifty thousand times

its about time we bit the bullet and said , enough is enough

get rid of the bbc its rubbish

ok , dads army was a classic , one of the greats , theres only one problem

IVE SEEN IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He told them to clear off in no uncertain terms so and has'nt heard from them since so this news does'nt surprise me

If you buy a TV Card for your PC, the vendor is obliged to record your details and pass them on to the TV Licencing authorities in the same way as they would do if they sold a TV receiver

the bbc is far from perfect, without doubt.but it still relatively independant.i woudnt feel safe,if people like rupert murdoch, were left to run the media.slanting the news, for thier own purposes,or that of thier advertisers.its not perfect, and needs a major shake up.but they can have my licence fee,no problems, the old saying.you dont know what youve got, untill you dont have it anymore, comes to mind.

Give me the BBC any day of the week if it means that I won't be bombarded with adverts like SKY and Freeview are doing.

It's bloody annoying that about 15 - 20 minutes or more of every broadcast hour is stuffed with adverts

I had no problem paying the liscence fee until my sister would comment on the latest going on in Albert Square, the awful dancing on Strictly, the put downs by Sir Alan etc.

My problem? She lives in Milan and watches more of the BBC than I do and finds the whole thing a hoot!

Anyway, quoting a film that is being shown on BBC4 is hardly mainstream for most BBC viewers, incidentally BBC1 is showing a film called 'Man of the Year' at 11.00pm on wednesday night.....no subtitles.

We were keen to watch some World Cup games at the office online. We dont have a TV licence at work so could have been fined blah blah but apparantly you can watch TV online at your place of work, as long as its on your own personal laptop from home (assuming you have a licence at home!)but as soon as you connect power cable, your required to have a licence!!

The licence fee should be scrapped and to have an opt out option like sky.

Add on when every where becomes digital we will all need a digital reciever to watch telly and most of us have digital or freeview. And pay enough with sky why do I need to pay for bbc too.

As you say... you do pay to watch sky, so why shouldn't you pay for the BBC?

The thing is... people say "I choose to pay for cable/Sky/whatever, I did not choose to pay for the BBC"... but the licence is to own one or more receivers.... and you did choose to own a television didn't you?

"As there is such crap on tv, i think people should pay for what they watch"

That will lead to more mass-market lowest-common-denominator shite, though.

(which is not to say I have a solution to offer)

How much is the TV licence? £165? For which we get..

2 full TV channels.

2 partial TV channels

5 easily accessed radio channels

about a dozen other radio channels

one very large website.

OK, there's some shite, but there's shite on the advertising channels, and there's probably shite on the channels

you pay specifically for (who still advertise at you....). So there's shite on TV irrespective of the payment mechanism. Why blame the BBC for that?

QI is worth £3 per week on it's own.

The channel I watch most is Dave ... that would be pretty dull without the BBC making the stuff in the first place.

If your not happy paying for a TV licence do something about it:

Become and MP as they are exempt the law regarding TV licences and do not require them.
