Because you suddenly realise that all your friends are or have been engaged, married and wonder when is it going to be your turn

so not sad for them only ourselves

It's a chap I meet while on "holiday" in Newquay back in er 2009...

He lives up north and we've been in touch since we meet, I know we'd have dated if we lived closer.

He meet his girlfriend and I knew this was on the cards so to speak, they brought a house and a puppy the last year.

I know their sex life isn't what it was as he "broke her" his words not mine! and they barely have sex. He works away and has asked me to meet with him for sex. I refused as I like him too much. Even though the sex with him was amazing.

Just feel that, I'm getting past it and am never going to meet anyone.

I am happy being single, but it does get lonely and would be nice to have someone to grow old with, to share things with, go places, go on hoildays, learn from, teach... And most of all have regular amazing sex esp that 4am sleepy sex

If it wasn't right for the pair of you back then what has changed?

You say he says he "broke her" and has told you their sex life isn't great and yet he wants to marry her. Does that really sound like someone you want to be with into old age?

My tuppence worth is that I think you miss the sex you had together, feel a little low right now and together that leads to a fantasy about a relationship. I was thinking of starting a thread about something like the stories we tell ourselves.

I'm oldish, very single and don't have that special person to grow old with. I accept that is as much about what I do to make that happen as not yet meeting that special person. How many near misses have we all had? How much was that about us not wanting to take a risk at that time?
