I'm finally starting to feel Halloweeny, been making toffee apples and bonfire toffee. Apart from the general stickiness in my kitchen it's made me very happy.

What are your Halloween plans?

We've never really got involved in Halloween. Nothing really happens down here. Not had any trick or treaters for years now and our children never got involved with it either.

I grew up in a village where everyone knew everyone and we used to go trick or treating in gangs of kids. We also used to celebrate mischief night and go door to door chomping - collecting wood for bonfires.

We never really did penny for the guy, but the guy was always a major work, generally the older boys made the guy and took great delight in filling it with fireworks.

We're hosting a Halloween party on Halloween before trick or treating. I've made practice cupcakes today as icing them with pumpkins and witches. So far so good! Got a great recipe for pumpkin pie too.

We've got heaps of decorations. We only go to houses we know trick or treating - get told off by my neighbours if we forget anyone's house. Tricks are being planned.

I love both Halloween and bonfire night.

Normally we take the children treating and have a stash of goodies for other treating children. But this year we are camping and having a big party.

I'll be away so I have none whatsoever, and I'm definitely happy with that. Now if I can just manage the same for New Year...

I live on a street that's mainly pensioners so I don't get trick or treaters either.

But there are often kids with guys outside the local shops and if they've put effort in i get them some sweets when I go in the shops. I prefer to give sweets rather than money.
