Phantom Periods - Sorry Guys!

Ok ladies, I have been on the implant for over 7 years, obviously in the beginning I went through 6 months of spotting whilst settling down then nothing, no period etc just the odd day every 6 months or so and when I was on the pill before hand I will say I was one of the lucky one's that NEVER suffered from period pains or even knew when I was due (which was the down side for obvious reasons!)

Now I had a smear test returned abnormal (3rd time is a row) so was put for further tests and thankfully came back at cin 1 but had a small biopsy at the same time (which confirmed the cin 1 diagnosis however, since then, I seem to have had suffered phantom period pains I have never have before, and sometimes it is bearable and others very unbearable, I have been to the docs and mentioned this and they think/said the biopsy might have unbalanced hormones in the implant and yes I do have a normal follow up in December to check for any changes, but has anyone else suffered this? Or know someone that has? I am just not used to this pain but curious to see if this is a common side effect? Sorry for the long post x

Sorry to resurrect this post but in the last year I have been at the docs and no viable solution and yes still being monitored every six months or so, but currently on annual leave and being miserable because of phantom period pains yet again! A hot water bottle is not a sexy look lol

Any recommendations to take this pain away?

Can you not get the implant removed to see if that helps?

Sorry I can't help with the pain side, I'm one of the lucky one with my pill! Without, I coped 2 months and decided the pain wasn't worth it!

Exercise is the best way. And water.

Sounds complicated. I'd look into having the implant removed, avoid any hormone intervention and try and balance your hormones naturally. Beyond throwing that out there, it's impossible to say more without knowing even more about your personal history. Acupuncture, shiatsu, homeopathy, herbs may well help.

sounds like your body needs a break from the implant..hormones accumulate, even the trace ones...id come off and let it all come out of body, pain is body, complaining to get your attention...they aren't going to link the implant with any of these symptoms..they wouldn't dare, too much controversy about safety etc..listen to your body...let it do its thing for a while..womb shedding is natural, stopping it for a long length of time, whilst convenient..isnt always the best thing x good luck honey x

Ask for Mefenamic Acid. I had the worst cramps when on the implant, this was the only thing to help. It's prescription only.

You're probably not in the mood for it but an orgasm often helps period pains.
