christmas pub opening times

on the back of the threads going around

do pubs open all day on xmas day or is it still just open for lunchtime then close rest of day ?????

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

depends on the licencing law in your borough or city. Also depends on the management in pubs.

When I was a pub manager, I often worked christmas day - open a few hours in the afternoon, and then again later at night, but it was dependent on staffing as well.

My local opened last year on xmas night, it was dead. So once all the family stuff is done this year, I'm having friends round at mine for a boozy night.

So I guess some do, some don't

thanks guys im going away to the yorkshire dales and wondered if the 2 pubs near where im going will be open in the eve ,so ive looked them up one says open for drinks 12-2pm and the other not say yet ,

i did think they not open in eve but as ive never had to think about it before its never been and issue x

Kind of hope they are closed. Giving the staff some time with their families on Christmas day. No real need for it, drinking beer is not an essential service keep it like retail and just close rather than make people like us chefs miserable to earn a few £££

My local opens 12 until 2.30 and open again 7pm until 10 pm.

Some have moaned about it, but i think it is good for those with no company on christmas day.

When I use to run a pub the licensing permitted us to operate Sunday hours at the time.

However we chose to open from noon until 2 pm and then closed.

It was the only night "off" we had in the whole year
