Only a day to go till its the holiday abroad for me and the family (mum, dad and brother) for a week. Won't need to go to bed tonight as we set off to the airport at 3am there's no point really lol. I'm all excited already.

Has anyone ever got excited about going abroad that they can't wait to go on the plane?

Am always excited to actually arrive at our destination. Can never get excited about the flight part. It's such a chore to actually get on a flight these days that it saps away excitement for me.

Yes. A few years back we went to Majorca. The first time we'd been on holiday alone since we had the children and after it had taken me nearly a year to recover fully from spinal surgery. A said he had never seen me so excited about going away.

We had the best time and look back on it very fondly.

Hope you have a fantastic time!

I hate flying with a passion!

I've done many a long haul flight where regardless of the flight time I've had a couple of drinks pre-boarding and then a couple more once on board with the sole aim of falling asleep as soon as possible.

But yep - it's a good feeling a day or two before and the seconds the wheels hit the tarmac at the other end.

I also get the pre-return blues a day or two before returning, so always try and line up a trip somewhere the day before departure, a good night out the night before - and budget for all the souvenir shopping to be done at the end of the holiday rather than earlier.

A

I always find it's best to avoid alcohol when flying. Always opt for soft drinks for some reason alcohol and altitude don't mix for me - always sleep or chill better that way
