I love cooking for people. I also love going to the cinema and going on hols. All pastimes that could do with a plus one to chat over things with.

Oh well, the benefits outweigh the downsides by a considerable amount.

When I was first single I suddenly noticed friends who are in couples don't invite you round for dinner like they did when you were part of a couple.

I've got used to that now though and meet up as girl friends for dinner out! So problem solved.

I've never had a problem going to event on my own - especially family - as there's always someone to talk to. No big deal. And my family know me well enough. They know I plough my own furrow and dance to my own tune.

"It's easy turn cover inside out find stick hands in find corners , find corners of quilt and shake. Done "

Slightly different technique: I tend to lay the cover out on the bed open end at the edge of the bed, duvet on floor, grab a corner and feed it up to the top corner in the cover, repeat for other side, slide the sides down to the end, grab both end corners duvet and cover, shake and you're done, might even land just right on the bed so nothing more to do

I put the duvet into the two corners of the cover, hold the corners and then stand on top of the bed. Shake it until it fills all the cover. Job done !

Normally I'd really struggle to think but having spent the weekend fighting a bad cold, coulda done with someone picking up slack on housework. Also my gbf/theatre buddy has a new job v long hours so I need someone to replace him esp in run up to Xmas as the daughter draws the line at opera and ballet.

"I've been asked twice by my family at weddings if I'm a lesbian

my most common asked question is ....haven't you found anyone yet? I must get asked that several times a week

I get sick of that question... I tell them I know exactly where he is - in the woods where I buried him for pissing me off... that soon shuts them up

i think some have a need to be with someone,I known people who when they split up they are actively looking for someone else and within weeks have a new partner, some just can't be alone and find it difficult to comprehend not all of us feel like that "

I've been single 4 years I do feel at times I'm collecting dust and that I'm just destined to be single the rest of my life lol sad really as I do actually make a lovely girlfriend lol.

Yes.

"Tight lids on jars etc. although I've found that nut crackers are useful for these.

I can help with that......try running the edge/underside of the lid under hot water....works everytime

Or bash round the edge of the lid with a rolling pin

Just hit the edge of the lid on the floor. It breaks the seal and makes it easier to get off "

safer to use a butter knife or spoon under the edge of the lid and ease it outward slowly till you hear a pop, job done

"Going alone to formal occasions; weddings etc....

Though sometimes it can be quite good

Ooh. Having to explain to your relatives why you're single and why it's okay. That's the worst.

I get that, "Met anyone nice yet?" me: "no I'm quite happy on my own now""

My response is usually oh yes loads but their wives asked for them back...lol live to see their reactions to that lol

On balance i'm a darned sight happier now than I was in both my relationships - but then they treated me like shit. I think many of us miss the IDEAL of a great relationship. Someone to talk with, laugh with, cuddle up with, share with, be still with, and have mind-blowing sex with! Only for someone wonderful would I give up my singledom. And he'd have to be ok with my farting and snoring!!
