Do you ever get angry when people don't understand the complexities of something?

Have you ever been speaking to someone about something, and that person has a problem and writes it off completely but it seems like they don't really understand what goes into that piece of work.

It can be anything, music, a job, art, film, etc...

Personally i'm a film fan and when sometimes i'm having discussions about a film and they just disregard it and just say 'it's shit' and that's all they need to justify it's something inferior. That sort of riles me up, like they're just looking at things on a complete surface level and not looking at the intricacies of it. That's just my example though, it can literally be about anything you've experienced where the other person just disregards it without thinking.

"what ? "

lol okay, basically does it annoy you when someone only judges something like film, or music, or writing, or dance, or a specific job etc... on a surface level. Not taking in any idea of the amount of hard work that goes in to create that specific thing?

If someone doesn't like something, it thinks it's shit, they won't really care about the effort that's gone into it.

Would say just enjoy talking with the people who do appreciate stuff, but guessing you don't meet anyone like that and that's why you're fed up.

They might not want to waste time discussing something they think is shit. And some people don't respect other peoples' opinions and it turns into an argument

But when one person loves something, be it a song, movie, art..then its a passion, its hard for others who don't really, care, or know anything about it to get immersed. So that response is probably cos they hate it, and couldn't care a less for it.

But yeah......for me its The Beatles

Well I admire intricacies and the work that goes into something even if I don't like it. To go back to my personal example of film, there's a film called Sucker Punch and it's not very good lol, but there are still camera movements, compositions, and general craft in there which I admire because it takes a lot of talent to pull that off.

So even though I don't like it, I still don't write it off as shit because I know the hard work that goes into it and that 99% of anyone who would attempt the same wouldn't be able to pull it off.

I see what your saying & get that, and read your a big movie fan. Generally though, do people watch movies with that much interest? or to unwind and take a couple of hours out of their lives, they might even be massive movie fans, but not notice the work that goes on behind, and that could relate to anything really.

I think ya need to join some sort of movie review site, or club pal if that's your passion and you want to discuss the finer details with like minded buffs

Oh it wasn't a complaint about here or anything lol. Just thought it'd be an interesting topic to discuss on the forums here.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I know many people who do get worked up when others/(I ) don't share their passion. I can enjoy that someone else is passionate about something but still don't want to hear the explanation about why it has merit.

I get riled about social justice issues and people not understanding that.

I suspect that we are all guilty of disregarding things that other people are passionate about. For me its football, I don't want to know what went in to making a goal, I honestly do not give a hoot and have no interest at all in trying to appreciate it.

So because you appreciate something and think it worthy of discussion, OP, you expect everyone else to feel the same?

People have their own likes and values and they're likely to be different to yours to some extent.

You have a right to your opinion, but everyone else has the right to have their own opinion too. If that opinion is that something is shit, that's fair enough. They probably don't want to waste time considering and discussing something that didn't interest them.

I'd rather appreciate what appeals to me than spend time discussing something I didn't like, and justifying my view, because someone else appreciated it and doesn't respect my right not to.

Yes, it winds me up sometimes, but i have no interest in considering the complexities that go into peoples indifference, so maybe it doesnt really bother me that much.

If I didn't like it I would say I didn't like it. I wouldn't say it's shit, because that's not true. It's clearly not shit because you like it.

Hope that makes sense!
