"I just can't watch. I've recently lost my father to peritoneal mesothelioma and have had three breast cancer surgeries myself. I've been told I'll never be free of it now. I just keep taking the medication and looking forward to tomorrow then tomorrow and the next tomorrow. Positive mental attitude and partial ignorance help me survive each day. " Laine, I'm sorry to hear about your father and your own fight. You sound like a very brave woman to me and a lovely person. Xx

"Going through this right now with my mum. She was diagnosed with liver cancer about 4 weeks ago and told they cannot carry out any treatment due to her other health issues so she just has to make the most of whatever time she has left. They haven't given any predictions so we've no idea. She'll be 62 next month. Bloody cancer It is strange talking to her as she is on about things she'd like at her funeral etc. Gotta stay strong for her though " I'm so sorry your having to deal with it all, I did the funeral chat with my parents when I had cancer but I was one of the lucky ones. You need to make the most of the time you have together, why not do a bucket list together just random crap like going the beach eating chips and playing the slots. Go see a show in London together then when her time comes she leaves with a huge smile and you have the best memories of her last few months etc x

"I find all these telethons so distasteful. In particular this one. Drug companies make vast sums of money selling us placebo pills and potions, and now we`re expected to pay for a `cure` as well? These programmes seem to attract celebs or businesses who are currently promoting something, or looking to improve their reputations. As for television itself, it cannot deal with these sort of personal tragedies in any sort of sincere way. Cue sad stories, cue the usual presenters trying to look serious, cue a song, cue some laughs, cue plea for our cash, repeat ad nauseum. If you`ve donated any money to this con, i hope it made you feel good, but your cash would have been better donated to charities that care for those affected by cancer. " . What like Mariecurie who use the funds for tv adverts and such rather than people getting the money. Perhaps if you donated your membership subs for here next month it might cheer you up a bit. People are sharing stories on here how it's affected them, no need for your tripe!.

" The whole fucking country is run through money raised by charities because the fucking government is too mean. Look at the lifeboats for instance, we are a small island surrounded by water and yet they have to rely on donations to keep our sailors and fishermen safe.

"Hurrah to Scottish Power for donating to SUTC. We`ll just forget about the millions of pounds they`ve been fined by the regulators for cheating it`s customers over the last few years, shall we? They did a good thing helping SUTC, right? Only cynics with a longer memory would dare to question the motives of Scottish Power, and others, being involved in this stunt." Why don't you go start another thread then as you're a bit off topic for this thread? Plus your a grumpy cunt bringing the positivity down.

No one was saying give money to it, that's all personal choice. I did actually say at the start - I wasn't saying give financially ! At the end of the day , if you'd donated all the world 's wealth to my Mum - it wouldn't have saved her! Or my Dad who died from it in his early 30's. You lost sight of the point of the post. I was trying to say, if you've suffered yourself , lost someone to it, currently have someone you love suffering with it. There are some of us on here who understand, as we've lived through a certain experience. That was all.

"I watched it I'm at the start of my battle with breast cancer this gave me more hope and inspiration to fight it I'm lucky mine has been caught early" I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis, that's great it's been caught early. I'm glad it made you feel inspired too. As I said, my Nan had it 26 years ago and is still going strong. Sending lots of hugs your way. Xx

"I couldn't watch it, we are in the struggle with my mum and ovarian cancer....even thinking about it makes me hurt so watching it couldn't happen. I wish everyone on the thread who is battling or has battled a healthy future " I'm sorry to hear about your Mum, it's so hard to see someone you love battling it. She's lucky though , she has a daughter who obviously loves her an awful lot. Having support and love makes such a difference . I hope her treatment goes well and you're getting support from your friends too. Xx
