Yesterday I successfully soldered silver (neatly, since it's for jewellery) by myself with no assistance or supervision. (I'd been shown and supervised twice previously)

I love learning new things, especially when those things involve a big feck off gas torch

Who else has learned to do something new recently?

Oops. Making mistakes is ok though, as long as we learn from them. You haven't failed until you stop trying.

I love it when you see the solder run into exactly the place you wanted it !

I use a small gas torch so the bits away from the joint cool down faster

Not being at all arty, I was well chuffed with myself in creating a fake ripped off nail (thank you YouTube). Even though I posted the pic on FB clearly stating it was my first attempt at a ripped off nail, one of my car pool mates thought I'd hurt myself and my sense of humour made me post the comment

Just ordered some scar wax and going to have a go at putting some cuts on my hands...

All for the Halloween GG night at Connections...watch out for zombie handjob pix

I learned that I could not replace a grill element in my cooker and that a man who coukd charged me £66 pounds to do so, working out at £6.60 per minute for the time it took him.

I therefore also discovered I am in the wrong job.

I used to do a lot of photography in the days before digital cameras. I've forgotten almost everything I knew though, and will be starting again.

Perhaps I can offer to take profile pics for hot blokes...
