I tried rice in an airtight container in the airing cupboard when I dropped mine in water. But nothing saved it and it was well and truly dead. Hope you can save yours.

Take half a pound of rice, a teaspoon of vinegar, fried garlic and onion. Boil vigorously with said phone in a closed pan for 30 minutes. Job done.

Dropped mine down the loo (it was clean) and whipped it out quick. Shook it, took battery out. Dried with paper towels, and it's fine.

Do you have any miniature torx screwdrivers or anything like a sharp kitchen knife to remove the two screws from either side of the dock connector is so take them out and slide the back off and the disconnect the battery as soon as and reconnect when dry.

Before you rush off to find a bag of rice, might be an idea to switch the power off old chap- rice won't do shit to fix a shorted circuit board or processor- removing the power immediately will drastically minimise any damage
